is the hex shaft plate the same as would be found on a Savage? What I mean is, if I purchased a MGT, would my Savage roto start turn over the MGT using the same shaft from the rotor start or do I need an actual drill like they advertise "drill start" compatable?

It wouldn't fit. I beleive that the savage starter shaft looks like a long dogbone. The MGT uses an allen key type shaft ... aka hex shaft.

I concur. It will not fit. best bet is to look around for a hex shaft that size. GL

actually the shaft on the rotostart starts off as a hex then becomes a dogbone on the end that goes into the backing plate, but it's quite a bit smaller in size.another problem is that the rotostart spins in a counterclockwise direction,so you'd have to reverse the battery polarity to make it spin the right way.
