HELP with tunning. PLEASE

Of course it could be the fuel line...the less fuel/oil your throwing in there the hotter the motor will get.

Seem is how its a new motor you can do the easiest compression check. With your finger turn the flywheel the direction as if you would start the engine. If it takes you some effort to turn the engine over once, your compression is good. If it turns over without effort you got bad compression. Turn it over twice, make sure before you do so you got your glow plug in snug, your header and exhaust are on and the filter is mounted on the carb.

I'd tear it a part and do a complete sealing on the engine. Might as well to eliminate air leaks. It'll save you trouble in the future.

Yep +1 on sealing the engine. Especially since your breaking it in. It may have developed an air leak after so many heat cycles.

I'm also having some trouble breaking in my K5.9 and think I might have an air leak. Can anyone give me a breakdown of how to break everything down and check to make sure it's all sealed good? I haven't even got a whole tank through it because it seems like it's way too lean at stock settings, once it starts up it warms up and I can't get it to idle low enough to not engage the clutch and the temp climbs steadily toward 250 before I pinch it off. I'm not getting a lot of oil or smoke from the exhaust like I'd expect either. I'm gonna swing by a local shop on my next day off and pick up some fuel line. I also had trouble priming it seemed like it didn't have hardly any back pressure in the line when I covered the exhaust. Thanks for any help!
