Of course it could be the fuel line...the less fuel/oil your throwing in there the hotter the motor will get.
Seem is how its a new motor you can do the easiest compression check. With your finger turn the flywheel the direction as if you would start the engine. If it takes you some effort to turn the engine over once, your compression is good. If it turns over without effort you got bad compression. Turn it over twice, make sure before you do so you got your glow plug in snug, your header and exhaust are on and the filter is mounted on the carb.
