Electric Gurus, I need you help.

I just bought a brand new CC sidewinder and for some reason i can't get it to work. I'm an electric newb, but shouldnt this be a simple plug and play?

I had the LHS solder on deans to both the ESC leads and batteries so i dont think thats the issue. the batteries are new Venon 4200 and 3800mah 6 cell packs that i charged on my vision charger. (i know the batteries are charged b/c i attached a light bulb and i got a strong glow.) the ESC lead is plugged into my channel 2 port and the polarity is correct so i dont think thats it. any other areas i need to look at?

HELP me. :surrender

Sounds like the safety-arming disable mechanism is triggering (the ESC will disable the motor if it doesn't see neutral throttle during turn-on for 2 seconds).

Did you go through the transmitter setup? The ESC instructions will detail how to do that.

no. i bought the USB cable to program the ESC. should that have programmed everything?

Did you program the ESC so that you can throttle, brake, and idle?

BTW: Did your Sidewinder come with the USB cable ESC or did you have to buy a new ESC?

scobie, yes i programmed it for forward, brake and reverse...and no the sidewinder does not come with the cable. its optional but it does come with esc/motor.

side note. i've been playing with it and it looks like a loose wire somewhere. all of sudden it started trying to calibrate the radio...

i think i got a gremlin...i found the gremlin. the black wire on the on/off switch is loose. i'm not sure how to solder it, so i'll be taking it to the lhs to see if he'll do it. if nothing else, i found the issue. wish me luck.

Wait, don't you need the Castle Link ESC because the ESC that came with my Sidewinder doesn't have the USB port that you connect. Anyways, you know you have to wait two seconds for the ESC to go to running mode right? The first two seconds are for calibration, if that's not the problem, it is the black wire. It is probably turning on and off and when it turns on it's still in calibration mode.

scoby the USB cable for programming also comes with an adapter that you plug in the ESC wires too. that allows you to program via your PC.

and yes, i know that there is a delay before the ESC arms. in my case the black wire on the on/off switch was completely loose.

Sounds like you got a rare defective unit. Contact Castle; their support is legendary. You'll have it replaced sooner than you can imagine.

My black wire came undone on my 7700, I just soldered it back on but I was worried for a bit!

They really do have a great team there. Glad you got that sorted out so quickly. Did they ask you to mail in the defective one?
