Hi guys

This is my first post here, I have been reading A LOT here for a while now, and have now decided to post !

I have a Cen Racing TR4. I've had it about 2 months, and put about 3/4 of a litre through it.

But, it runs very very hot with the shell on it. I have tried to run it richer, but this doesn't help, when I "spit" on the head it boils away very quickly, sometimes steams. So I then have to take the shell off and run it without it, which I don't want to do.

If anybody doesn't know this engine then it's a 0.16 size, has a HSNeedle and LSNeedle, and idle adjustment.

I have tried adjusting all the needles, and got it running quite well. I drive it around, and it started stalling, (when I noticed it was running very hot), so I upped the idle speed a little, and this sorted the stalling, but was still running very hot. I don't have a temp gun, so my spit has to be good enough !

Now this is REALLY anoying me and I want to sort it. So if anyone can offer advice I would be most grateful.

Thanks very much

John

I always tune an engine by adjusting the HS needle until it is running blubbery rich. Then lean it out 1/16 - 1/8 turn at a time until it just starts running clean and strong. Most healthy engines will run between 200° f to 240 f at that point. If it doesn't have enough power to move the car well at that point, there may be something wrong, like a clogged air filter or a worn piston/sleeve. Worn engines run hot and lack low to mid power due to blowby past the piston. Good luck!

PS, be sure to cut your windshield out for air flow to the engine.

:tophat: hey you say it runs fine when body is off but it gets hot when body is on correct ok cut out opening in winshield too allow air flow also cut bigger area where head is you might also think about getting diffrent head for better cooling.

also use body reamer too cut multiple holes on body this should help\\
