If I were to buy a truck for back yard bashing what truck would be over all better, Revo 3.3 or T-Maxx 3.3 ? I was going to get a cen gst 7.7 but now the revo looks real good to me. I can't seem to make up my mind. Any info on good or bad results with any of these please let me know.

If you just plan on bashing, and have enough money for a Revo, then do yourself a favor and buy a Savage. They're much more durable.

However if you want to race then I'd suggest a Revo. They're the racers of the MT world, and have won several nationals.

If you're looking for cheap part support and easy hop-up-ability then buy a Maxx. Don't get the 2.5, though, they have cheap parts and tend to break more than the newer 3.3 versions.

The only real downfall of the maxx is still a weak suspension arm/hinge pin arrangement. The hinge pins are held within the bulkheads by plastic only. It would be nice if traxxas would figure out a better setup for that truck as it's not a bad truck with the 3.3 in it... but still has a bad bulk design. It's just really weak.

The revo and savage both have the hinge pins captured with an aluminum brace. It's part of what makes the suspension more durable to wrecks and impacts.

People keep talking about the savage, they just seem so plane. I guess that is why there so tough. I am down to the revo 3.3 or the gst 7.7 . I really want the gst but a lot of people have had 3rd gear trouble and some other problems. Just not easy to decide. Have there been many problems with the revo 3.3?

savage plain? they revolutionized the MT world with the twin TVP setup, and the reason you keep hearing savage is because they are the toughest MT out of the box period. I own 2 savages,a tmaxx and a revo. least problems from the savages by far.

ok, So add a third truck to the mix. Just got done looking at the savage page and with the added 3 speed and reverse I could see this truck working for me too.

If you're looking for a basher, the savage is definitely the way to go. I went to the track a few weeks ago with my friend and his revo, and there was a guy running a savage there too. Of all the cars running there the savage never stopped, everyone else was breaking. The guy with the savage was even running it into the fence at like 35, cartwheeling it, nose diving it, you name it and it just kept on going. My friend broke twice, luckily the hobby shop was across the street.

If you're just backyard bashing, either the Revo or the Maxx would be great. If you are going to be jumping or racing I would recommend the Revo. Out of the box the Revo will survive what the average basher will do to it. The only weak point I found in my own was the reverse which I blew out a week after I got it. The other to consider is the availability at your local hobby shop (lhs). Most will carry a lot of parts and there are quite a few hop ups available for both trucks.

If ya think the savage is too plain, check out the aftermarket parts for them. Just about anything you could want.

Of course the Revo is the same way.

Hard to choose, ain't it?

Thanks for the help. I am going to order my new truck this week and I finally decided on the HPI 1/8 Savage X SS K4.6 Kit. I have done a ton of research and I think this is the way to go. I,m getting a really good radio, big tires w/bead locks and a ton of extras. Thinking of building a truck from the ground up just sounds awsome to me. I will post some pics on the savage topic when I start my building. Again, Thanks for the input.
