I was running my t-maxx with the above engine...running rich etc...it cut off. I thougt it was running too hot. Probably 280 ish.... Anyway I tried to restart, and it start running rough..When I rev'd it it sounded really rough and would not move. Full throttle and it sounded very slugglish. Any suggestions? I did change out the plug to start. From there I am clueless. Any help is appreciated.

How is your compression? How much fuel has the engine seen?

You migh want to lean the LSN and richen the HSN a little bit and try it, and keep going till you get it right.

First off do you have a temp gun, if not you should get one. cause i dont know how you could be running at 280 but running rich.
also what do you mean by running rough, was it running high, low RPM

My guess would be you are running rich and that is causeing it to stall and not run properly. and if the glow plug is old it wont hurt anything to replace it.

I do have a temp gun, when I went to get it was 250. It is running rich (lots of smoke and fluid out of the exhaust. It was running fine, all of sudden it cut off. I tried to start it again, and it was idling low...very low. When I get it to idle for a sec or two I would rev it..a few times. At one point it was going to cut off, at WOT it was reving low. This happened all of a sudden. Can someone suggest factory settings for .21 picco t-maxx (ofna) Let me know if something is still not clear. tks
The first thing I did is replace the glow plug. tks

Temp is what is important, dont worry about the smoke and the oil coming out of the exhaust, look down the carb throat and see how big the gap is when you apply the brakes it should be about the width of a credit card or a little bit bigger.
but by what you say I still think your engine is running rich try to lean it out a bit and get back to us.

turn on your radio gear, take off the air filter and apply the brakes. than look down the carb throut their should be a gap the width of a credit card or 1-1.5mm. , if it is to small it will not let enough air/fuel in to the engine during idleing. and the engine will stall.
if it is to big you will get a lot of fuel in to the engine and will cause it to load up on fuel and when you try to drive the RC it will stall.

also make sure you tune the HSN then the LSN

I would suggest checking your one-way bearing as well, may be on it's way out siezing.

the one-way bearing is the bearing in the pullstart. it will only turn one way. but he is correct if it is seized it will cause problems

oh sorry, their is also a one-way bearing in the ez-start if you take off the ez start their will be a ig bearing, and that needs to be cleaned and relubed fairly often, one thing you could also do is a rebuild on teh engine, When I run my engine for a a long time and they begin to be pain to run them I like to take the engine and take it all apart and clean it and reoil it.
make sure every thing is in good order.

and how much fuel has been ran through the engine

This is an engine that is prone to air leaks... Have you tried sealing the carb neck and backplate?

The engine has maybe 15 tanks approx. I am not familar with sealing the carb neck and backplate (not sure where the backplate is)

I hate to tell you but you are WRONG! temp is not as important as smoke! We can get into a big debait about this, but its not worth it. Tune so you have a good trail of smoke all around low mid and high and you should be good. Now if your running around 300 then that is a different story. but anything between 220 and 275 is pretty much normal for most engines.

As I mentioned at the top of this thread, my T-maxx just all of a sudden stopped running. It has been extrememly hot here lately (wondering if that is the problem). I went ahead an purchased a larger cooling head (one reccommended in another thread). My question is how two set back to factory settings. This is for a Picco .21 t-maxx drop in. I am not familar with the terms on how to tune..Can someone give some advice? When I start it, it will rev nice....when I start to give it gas the engine sounds really rough and muffled..help!!!..Tks
