I am new into the nitro rc thing I have decided to sell all of my electric stuff and convert to nitro. But I can't decide which truck I want. I want a 4x4. I was looking at the ofna titan and the
tmaxx 2.5. If any one has any opinoions I would like to hear them. Or if you prefer another truck which one. Thanks Matt

I have never drove the titan, but I own the t-maxx the t-maxx is a great truck with tons of after market parts, another truck you should consider is the savage from what i have heard and seen it is an awsome truck. If i was going to buy one it would be a hard choice between th t-maxx and the savage

What do you plan on doing with it?

I have both the TMaxx (.15 version hopped to the hilt) and the Savage (very few hopups required!) and can honestly say I 'prefer' the Savage. Only because it cost a lot less to be able to beat the crap out of it and not worry about breaking as much.

Dont get me wrong, they will both break! Just the Savage seems more solid so far.

The new 2.5 Maxx (stock) will take the Savage (stock) as far as speed. But that can be changed rather easily with gearing and a good pipe to get you the speed edge if you so desire.

The Titan looks awesome. Havent toyed with one yet so I can't give you my 2 cents on it. ITS HUGE though. I have seen one and can say it is truly a MONSTER! Maybe we can get Chazey to chime in and give you his opinions on the Titan vs. the new Maxx. He has the Titan and an old maxx but runs with a HUGE Maxx crew to include a handful of the new ones as well as a few Supermaxx's by UE.

Chazey?

Well what is your budget first? And definitely you need to add the savage to the mix. What are you going to do with the truck? Race it? bash it?

OK to address all the questions at once. My budget is negociable and I dont plan on racing it roght now but maybe in the future. For right now it will mainly be bashing. I havent read anything about the savage but one thing I like about the titan is the size. It is huge. What size motor does the savage have. I really appericate all of you helping me out. Matt

The Savage has a .21 BigBlock. The Titan is HUGE allright, maybe too huge! NOT! No such thing as TOO big, but, you may run off all the other bashers! lolol

The new Maxx has the best smallblock on the market in it (still debating whether or not the new Sirio 8 port is better). Thats one thing that only they can say for now.

The Savage has a nice, but not top of the line .21 in it. However, when you go to replace it, you can go outlaw class just like the Maxx. Cept it will be big block. :)

I really liked the fact that I had a .21 off the bat as well. No need for an expensive conversion kit like the maxx. Then again, with the new maxx, no need to go .21.

Confused yet?

Me too!

They are all good trucks!

I would flip a coin between the Savage and the new Maxx. If you dont mind dropping the cash and scaring the hell out of everyone you bash with, get the Titan! I would!

the savage has a .21 And i tend to agree with these guys if I had it to do over I probably would buy the savage. The reason being my t-maxx seems to be a money pit, There are so many things on the t that needs upgraded right from the start. for instance the plastic drive shafts suck you need mip drives the plastic twist realy easy another is shocks the plastic shocks blow the caps of every time you hit a big jump and on and on From what i have heard from the guys on this board the savage doesn't need all the upgrades right off the bat.

OK another question which truck will tak the most abuse stock with no upgrades. Also I was wondering if the .21 had enough power because the titan has a .25 but I realize it is a lot bigger. Will the power that they have be different or do you think the size will compensate. Matt

Well I cannot comment on the savage but the Maxx is not near as durable as everyone makes it out to be. For instance, I am on my 4th set of front bulkheads as of this afternoon. I keep hitting my fence at low speeds and it just completely rips that wheel and A-arm completley off the bulkheads. I dont know if the savage is any tougher than the maxx but just by looking at it I can deffinatley say that if I were to do it all over again it would deffinatley be the savage. As far as motors go the 2.5 is a pretty nice lil mill , even though I didnt give it credit in the beginning I am starting to like it but it can't compare to a .21 so theres another plus for the savage and if you get a maxx get plenty of extra shock caps along with bulkheads because I have already snapped about 6 shock caps.

I am a T-Maxx owner. I have the original Maxx and am happy to say it is a durable little truck. Breaking parts is a part of this hobby, and which parts you break the most often is going to be determined by your set-up, hop-ups, and driving skill (or lack thereof).

My T-Maxx is "slightly" modified/hopped-up and to date I have broken:
1 set of rear bulkheads, a few rod ends (both on shocks and turnbuckles), multiple centerline drive shafts (these are my built in weak link), one smoked plastic spur gear (upped to steel, no problems since), and one rear skid plate.

I am getting a Savage and don't plan to leave it stock for long. I'll be upgrading the mill as soon as I can find one I like, beefing up the suspension (as I like to fly my trucks more often than not), new tires (Proline BiG Joe 40 series), and a number of little nice to haves.

Were I to recommend a truck, I'd say either the T-Maxx or the Savage. Both are great and you'll have fun no matter which you get.

As for budget, regardless of which one you get you will break stuff. That is part and parcel of this hobby. Just start acquiring spare parts as you go, and as Pirata says: Drive, break, repair, repeat.

WLECOME TO THE HOBBY!

Since you've already bought and paid for the aluminum set of bulkheads you should have bought instead of the plastic ones you might want to consider buying aluminum bulkheads. :ball:

I own a Savage 21 and a T-Maxx 21. While getting a t-maxx to have a 21 engine is expensive it is still fun upgrading to the point very little stock parts remain. I can say while costing $1000+/- my t-maxx is now a tank however it is not unbreakable.

I liked the idea that the savage came basically with a metal drivetrain which, I had thought, would be extremely difficult to break however in less than 36 hours after I had bought my savage I had broken one of the drive shafts. I figure it might have just been the alignment of the planets and the time/space continuim but I'll find out as soon as the replacement parts arrive.

One of the biggest drawbacks to the savage is that most hobby stores have not started stocking replacement/upgrade parts which means if you break your savage you will probably have to wait for the parts to arrive instead of being able to just hit your lhs and bolt the parts on, like you can for most of the t-maxx parts.

OK I have good rating on the savage and the tmaxx does any one know about the ofna titan. Thanks Matt

i dont know if you'll find much more info on the Titan, because of its almost $700 price tag and thats its fairly new, not many people have one. from what I've seen people like Titans, but i saw one in real life, and i was dissapointed in the shock travel. Not near the T-Maxx's or Savage's, if this will effect its off road capabilites i dont know, but it sure takes the push-down-to-show-off-suspension factor away :depress: :p

Well Again The titan is a trugy Backspur get in here and tell them the diffrence in it and the Monster Pirate...X

I have the HPI MT RS4 and I love it. Very fast 40s..
There are alot of hop up options for this car.
