Hi everyone.

Just another new guy here requiring A LOT of advice on setting up. I've not got a clue. I stumbled across Off Road nitro trucks/buggys on youtube and TV and they look fantastic fun! But I don't know what to go for at all, scale? truck or buggy? 2WD or 4WD? What else will I need to get started? etc. Also, RTR or a kit, I have a friend who is very skilled at making petrol RC aircraft and could give me help on assembling a kit one, I would enjoy making one I think but it just depends on what you experienced people would reccommend. I'm looking to spend around £250-£300 but would stretch to £350 if it means i get a lot more for that bit extra, I saw the T-maxx 3.3 and the revo 3.3 on youtube which both look fantastic and comes under my budget but would someone please explain the difference :S. I just want something fast fun and reliable for flying about at speed off road and taking a pasting off of jumps lol. But then again, that covers just about everything you want from a RC car lol.

All comments and help is much appreciated as i realy want to get started with the right car.

Since i first posted this, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Traxxas-T-MAX...8|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:0|293:1|294:50

has really took my eye, is that everything i need to get started? and what do i need for maintenence?

thanks again for any advice.

T-Maxx is a monster truck and the Revo is considered one also, but it's designed for racing. I own a Revo but have never raced it, they can take a lot of punishment and mine has held up very nicely. Never owned a T-Maxx, but from what I've heard, most agree that the Revo is a little tougher to break.

I usually don't care for those 'bundled' kits. I'm not sure about the Ansmann fuel and if the the batteries are for the receiver, forget it. You really need a rechargeable receiver pack, they have longer run times, more voltage and will save you money in the long run.

Essentials (IMO): Fail-safe - throttle return spring (Revo comes with one) - temp gun. After you make those 3 purchases, then you can buy fuel :D
After-run oil or WD-40 is required also.

thank you

Thanks for all the advice guys.

I looked at the savage range and the 3.5 just came in my budget range. Is it a good beginners truck? and how does it compare to the revo 3.3?

Thanks

As far as durability goes, Savage all the way from what I hear and see. I don't personally own one, however.
