help on buying buggy

Am I the only one who finds this price slightly odd?
Price : $729.95 ????
Sale Price: $399.95
Hell, none of the Ofna Buggies have sold stock for higher than $600????


How much are you willing to spend? $400? $500 Unlimited? The Force 26 is not the good of an engine. There have been more negative things written about that engine than positive. Just a thought.
 
pros hummmm can't think of none. cons. if your are a hard core basher the vilolator will bust apart on inpact. my buddy has one and has spent more money fixing it than he paid for it..if that says any thing. if your just tooling around it probley will be fine.the .26 force after about 1 gallon was wore out.. the roto start killed 6 owbs in one month.and would not hold a tune worth poop...if your looking for a good all around buggy try looking at the ofna pbs or the pcr this is just my 2 cents...zandor
 
Ok I have a violator and if you use the roto start right you will have no problem with it. As for the motor it is shy on Horse power I have seen .21s make more horse power than thw force 26, but the force 26 is a good motor it holds a good tune. As for people saying it breaks easy I dont see how mine hasnt and it seems to hold up to the stuff I do to it. The only thing that happen to mine was that the tire came unglued because there was no diff oil in the diffs so ALL the power went to one wheel.

But I would give the violator a good review
 
alright i guess that means the violator is out of the question. i will spend up to $450 what is the best buggy for under $450

VIOLATOR

I'm Repairing Mine As We Speak As Zandor Said I've spent more money fixing it than i payed for it, I just picked up a kit to switch it over to the PBS suspension I'm going to have 1 MBX Violator IMO the PBS is much stronger then the kingpin in the Violator. Have A Nice Day:dance:
 
I have an Ofna Hyper PBS, that i bought new at LHS for 459.00. It comes with a starter box, but it would be best to buy a better one and use the one that comes with the PBS for land fill. My Hyper 21 8 port was so tight that it was almost impossible to start with the box that came with it. I think think the buggy holds up well though.

Sorry if this is considered hijacking but I'm in the same situation....Own a Drake and want a big buggy.

Another question if you will. What are the must haves you look for when looking at all the 1/8 buggies on the market? Engine and electrics not included. I mean Ofna themselves have several to choose from and in the world of 1/8 scale I know didly. So what are the things you wouldn't sacrifice such as pivot ball steering. Maybe I can't even ask what I mean here but I don't want to get a highend buggy and end up not liking it but i also dont wanna go to cheap either.

so what do we need to look at. I hear get this and get that but not what are the draws to these machines. I do not have the $$ to blow on a K3 or MBX5 but I dont wanna go so cheap I have a bad experience.

hope you can get what I'm trying to say cause I don't....lol

Also whats the difference in the PCR and PBS ?

ok heres the run down the pbs and the pcr are about the same ride the pcr has a few more hopups like the lay down servos thiker upper frount arms 7075 dog bones and a few others check www.ofna.com .imo the hyper pbs and the pcr are the higher end buggys.for the rest of them i wouldn't waste my money... to me the piviot ball is the poop when it comes to bashing.the 8 port mill is a very strong runner for what it is.i personley went with a rbws711 in mine.but i did run the crap out of the 8 port and its still alive just broke in ran about a gallon in it.so as far as buying an ofna stay away from all the others and get the pcr my first thought and then the pbs.. my 2 cents

Zander I preciate it...from highend I was talking K3 or or similar(if there is one) I am having a hard time just finding info on anything other than the Ofnas, Mugen and Kyosho but I know there are others. What are they? I seen a post on a HB lightning 2 ? I just am in the beginning process of buying a buggy and want to soak in as much info as I can b4 making a purchase. I will definately consider the PCR but primarily I will be racing this buggy instead of bashing so what other options are there out there for me to consider?

Thanks again and hopefully my questions will help the beginner of this thread in his decision as well

well is far as racing w/out buying a k3 or a mugen.imo the pcr will be your best bet.the piviot ball will do very good on the track.and if you don't like it you can always do the c hub swap..keep in mind that the k3 with the right mill will owne. but the pcr with the ws711 will keep right up w/ it imo. even with the hyp 8 port you will be happy.for the $ its the right chose.you won't find any other ride for that $ that will conpair...i did a lot of home work mostly in here befor i bought my buggy.the conclusion for 500 green backs you can buy the pcr or you can spend 800$ on a k3 roller.mill and elcs extra..btw higher end i ment in the ofna brand

Buy the Violator

A month ago I had the same question, did a lot of research, read the reviews, and I decided to buy the violator. This buggy is not going to break if you take the necessary precautions. This thing is fast, stable and ready to race (except for the steering servo that really needs to be replaced).

I like the Hyper 7 but for what you get for your money, its better to get the Violator. THis thing starts very easily and because of its low ride and wide stance, really handles well.

This is of course my opinion, but read more posts about this car on this forum and youll see I'm right.

I can't agree with you on this I have the PBS, my buddy Zandor22 has the PCR and or buddy itsmesag has the Violator. We all bash very hard and over the course of 2 months the PCR and PBS have come out of all of this with no real damage, we can not say the same for the Violator it has had its had its front end rebuilt twice and now it is going thru a PBS transplant. Also if you plan to race the Violator is not legal you would have to modify it because it is to wide. I just have to think that maybe you don't run yours very hard do ya leap it 10 to 15 feet in the air or are ya just running on the grass. Thats my two cents worth. Hope it was of some help.

iam with rhyton on this did you see my pic. if not look up.if you vioilotor was to do this you whould be spending 100$ for real.like i said befor its ok if your just tooling around.but if your going to bash no way will it hold up to that much abuse...oh and buy the way it is not ready to race.you have to mod the a arms to make it legal.
 
No Violator

Like Rhyton And Zandor Said I've tried everything they've tried when bashing and it always ends up with me broken for the rest of the week so if you plan on bashing go with something with PBS suspension you'll be saving yourself money and headaches in the long run. Just My 2 Cents.Have A nice Day
 
Maybe True

To be fair, what others might be saying about the buggy may be true because I dont "bash" the car often. But in my experience the car is solid. Ofna does offer a conversion kit for the 9.5 violator RTR, does anyone know where to get it?

From my research, everyone says the GS Storm RTR is a great buggy for the price also.
