OK. I think I just got screwed on EBay. Way back when... I think I got one of the first Revo's ever released and I thought the whole push behind the Revo was the 2.5R Racing Engine.

Today I just received a motor that I bought on EBay that was listed as a brand new 2.5 Revo Engine but it has the smaller unanodized T-Maxx head. The seller is trying to tell me that Revo's originally came with that head.

Is there anyone here who specifically remembers the first Revo's and whether they were ever sold with the unanodized head that the T-Maxx's had.

Thanks for the history lesson.

i had what i think was a pretty old revo from i want to say maybe 5 years ago. it had the blue 2.5r motor. i bought it brand new and just sold it about 3 months ago.. i pretty sure they never came with the 2.5 motors. BUT, there is not much of a diffrence between the 2.

I'm 99% sure the revo came into this world with the 2.5R (blue head). The jato and t-maxx both came with the 2.5. The t-maxx was upgraded to the 2.5R later on.

Either way, the engines are very similar. Some say they are the same except for the head. I don't have a 2.5 and 2.5R to compare, so I can't say for sure either way.

yeah the 2.5r was the smaller version never a 2.5

The first Revos came with a 2.5r and all 2.5r engines came with the blue ano head. No Revo has ever come with the old grey head 2.5. Traxxas claims there is a small difference in the porting but I personally think it was a marking gimmick.

To be honest, I wouldn't worry about it, I ran a 2.5r and a plain old 2.5 in the same truck and they were the same. As with all TRX engines seal the carb neck and back plate and you should be fine.

Thanks guys. This is what I was thinking. It is the priciple of the matter. The seller told me this was a Revo 2.5 with the blue head. I don't care about the color but I do care that the 2.5R head was bigger = better cooling. He also insulted me and said that "It's not my fault if you don't know what you are buying". Really aggravating as I am pretty sure I do know that the Revo never came with the 2.5 (non anodized, smaller) head.

I researched it some more and all of the info I found advertised the Revo engine as new and improved over the rest with the larger blue anodized head.

I have other heads from my several other 2.5R. Like I said it's the priciple. I wanted to make sure I knew what I was talking about before I left negative feedback for him since he refused to make the sale positive and give me what I paid for or pay the shipping to have it returned.

Negative feedback, or demand a refund through paypal or ebay.

Sounds like theft by deception to me. Not that the engine is bad, but I agree with the principle as well as the fact that the 2.5r has a slightly higher resale value because of the hype.

Yeah... but a brand new 2.5 or 2.5R on ebay would bring similar dough. It may be a "principle" thing, but it's just a dope on ebay that you are wasting your time over.

I mean, if it was an OS18CV-R instead of the OS18TZ, then you'd have quite a bit of wiggle room to be ticked.

I'm not saying it's right to be deceptive and shady, I'm only saying that you've put a lot of effort in being annoyed about it and there's little that you can do about it.

Personally, I'd have just received the truck, posted negative feedback and never give it another thought. Either way your getting a revo that more than likely needs an upgraded engine anyway ;)

Yeap there are many of us on here who sell on ebay all the time and I'm sure that most of them, like me, have never had and negative feedback. There are some bad apples on ebay, but for every bad ones there are hundreds of good ones.

I know what you mean about the guy making that comment to insult your intelligence. One time there was a guy on here that had a truck listed, and he always lists his stuff for these ass ripping prices. He listed the truck, and it was covered in mud and filth and had an old busted up body. I sent him a PM, as I've done with some other guys on here, to suggest that he might be able to get at least closer to his asking price if he would just clean the rig and maybe throw and old solid color basher body on it that wasn't full of wholes. Keep in mind that it was a VERY kind and generous note, just trying to help out. He replied back that obviously I was an idiot because I didn't know what an excellent deal he was offering. Sometimes people are just plain ignorant, and it makes me want to beat them over the head with my 5b SS several times, but I've learned to just take it in stride. I would definitely leave negative feedback since he outright lied to you, but on the other note, most people that I've talked to liked the 2.5 better than the 2.5R, so you might have come out on top after all.

2.5r is funny to tune but has a load more power i.m.o yea theres always bad apples bnut +1 on charlies comment you just have to take it in stride and not buy there again not much you can do about it

Thanks guys. I appreciate all of the comments. I don't lose a wink of sleep over it. Saw it more as an opportunity to learn something that I didn't already know. Maybe that the Revo originally came with a 2.5 instead of the 2.5R. But I am contented that I knew the true scoop. This new engine will end up in one of my kids' T-Maxx's anyway. My Revo's run with OS18TM's. Again it was just the priciple and principle is rarely worth getting upset about.

Long live REVO! I love these things.

OK seller get ready for a negative feedback on this one.

I have never bought from ebay and probably never will. Glad to see your not mad.

P.S I am typing this on my new iPod touch!!

Final Note: The seller agreed to refund me $15 so I can replace the head. He wasn't happy but he didn't want the hassle. FIne by me. Issue resolved. Thanks for the support guys.
