i got 2 used nitro rc cars the other day and they both wont start. I'm doing everything right. i have a HPI RTR rs4 3+ evo and a HPI RTR rs4 drift car. the guy said he had them running a day ago but they wont run for me. I've sat outside pulling them 5mins …:(

also he said they are both tuned

also the dirft car wasn't getting fuel so i put a associated fuel bubble on it and when i pump some fuel in it and pull the cord fuel comes out right at the bottom of the head

If you got fuel coming out of the head you got problems check head bolts.Take out glow plugs turn up side down get all excess fuel out. Put the plugs in your igniter make sure they are glowing bright orange.Pull the fuel line off the carb put the igniter back on pull it when it tries to pop put the line back on try starting it again it should fire.:D

it still wont start :( it had a weak pop then it wouldnt do anything. i had the air filter off when i did it

Close your needles start about 11/2turn out try again till it starts if not try a new glow plug for the hell of it.

lol i didnt buy them. i had a broken dirt bike and i didnt want it so they will probly end up with the bad deal. dirt bike repairs can go up to 500$ rcs not so much

i threw a new glow plug in it and nothing. ill look up the stock tune for them. i really dont have money to take them to a shop to get tuned.

oh and my glow plug is only glowing bright orange but most people say it should glow red. so is my glow igniter to weak?

I'm runnning 20% and they say to have a red igniter for 20% this true? i put a little fuel on the ground and put the igniter with a bright glowing plug in it and put it on the fuel and only sizzled. I'm guessing its my igniter

Bright orange is fine as long as all the coils are lit . Look up the stock settings and go from ther stick with it you'll get it don't get discouraged persistance pays.

I can spend more on that on 2 engines for those cars but no sense looking back get'em going.:whhooo:

Make sure the engines have compression. If one is spewing fuel from the head that means it could be missing the head shim, or the head just wasn't tightened down on the block properly.

Once you have made sure the head has it's shim(s) and it's reassembled; hold the engine by the flywheel, if there's not enough compression to hold the motor at a 45* angle for 10 seconds the motor is shot (make sure you have a glow plug installed, otherwise you won't have compression obviously ;)). Still an easy fix however, piston and sleeve kits are relatively cheap for RTR motors (considering that's what they are).

the motor is good and it was just the head screws were barely loose

still wont start though :/ i put it back on the factory tune setting and still nothing

i tuned it to the stock seetings and it seemed like it barely tried to pop to start then it just stopped that all together and went back to just pulling and nothing

Have you put new glow plugs in them? Are you using fresh fuel? Are you sure your glow ignitor is charged and/or working properly?

i put a new glow plug in it. i have 2 gallons of 20% fresh fuel. and i let it charger for 18-22 hours before using and it glows bright orange

The only thing i can think is those engines are just worn out and don't have enough compression to run I'm outa ideas sorry. This is what happenswith used engines most of the time your buying someones problems. Its a crap shoot sometimes.:(
