Hello Friends,

I am new to Nitro cars; I have an option of buying Nitro RS4 RTR 3 Evo + by HPI or Nitro 4-Tec 3.3 by Traxxas.
The speed of HPI is 80kms where as Traxxas goes to 70 MPH, please keep in mind availability of parts and brand, which one would you suggest to a person without experience, although I heard I heard a beginner would also be able to drive the Traxxas Nitro 4-Tec 3.3.

Please advice, thanks

if this is your first on road car then go with the hpi evo the 4 tech would be wayy to hard for you to handle at first.

i have had a few of both and i would say the 4-tec. IT IS FASTER THEN THE RS4'S!! since your new, i will ask why you are getting an on-road? are you aware how hard it is to find a place to run them? they are less then 1/2 an inch off the ground. small rocks and street cracks will send it flying. dont get me wrong, i love on-road and would never stear anyone away. just wasn't sure if you were aware

so why the traxxas? well first off the e-z start is very helpfull. even if you get the roto start from hpi, you will still need the glow sarter. its all easy, but the e-z start is just more user freindly. the 4-tec is a little heaver too. and at 70mph, it helps keep it down. i found both were easy to wrench on, but hpi was slightly easer with the shaft drive. the belts arent that bad to work with and last a super long time, but every blue moon, a rack would get stuck in there. no biggy, they shoot right out, but you can feel it. a big thing is the traxxas motors. they are easy to tune and can take more abuse then the hpi's.i found myself replacing more hpi mills then my traxxas mills. hpi has more up to date bodies. they are both good, but i always grabbed the trusty 4-tec before the rs4's
hope this helps, good luck

One thing I would take into consideration is what your local hobby shop stocks for replacement parts. Traxxas is carried by most everyone but HPI may or may not be. If you have easy access to parts for both then My vote would go to HPI and the EVO any day of the week. It is just a better class of car.

Think of the 4-Tec as a VW and the EVO as a Porsche.
