Man I am so dissapointed in myself for causing this supendous mistake. I were down driving my Savage today, and in the middle of the first tank my father turned on the radio to my brothers Savage. The problem is they are the same channel, and can you guess what happened?

Well actually it might be worse than you think, because I have a reverse module in there and it went back and fourth at crazy speeds I have never seen anything like the way it behaved before (not even online). Luckily I managed to catch it as it changed to reverse right near me and shut of the reciever. (My father didnt know they were the same channel, and I got so surprised I didnt realise it was his Tx that was causing the freakshow) Also I have read several places that if you change to reverse while still moving forward, then you would break the reverse module, it still works though - I just had to finish the tank ;) but it could be damaged ofcourse.

Anyway, now it makes metallic noises all the time when running and it gets louder when accelerating - yeay! I intend to completely rebuild it ( again :( ), but would like to know all the parts I need to look closely at!

I hope somebody could just give some input on what they think is wrong/damaged please???

PS! Yes I know I should have a failsafe, and believe you me it will be bought as soon as I get my next paycheck!

since it still drives i would assume teh diffs are still good, but being it was switching between corward and reverse i would say the reverse module and possibly the tranny have got to be hurten, rip her open and replace what needs it!

Thanks for that Nathan, still need more help though.

I looked over the truck and noticed the rear diff is not working :( both wheels move the same way when moving just one wheel.

Will still continue to take the entire thing apart again, but please tell me all the "stress points" that I need to look at.

Both diffs and the tranny are what took the most beating in what you said happened. Those are the areas that need looked at first, then check the drivelines to see if any bearings may have blown, or axles got twisted or bent.

I dont own a savage but check the screw or pin going through the outdrive on the diff to the tranny. Or, check the pins in the wheel hexes. There could be a number of simple things...

Thanks again.

The rear diff is missing about 10 teeth, so thats blown :(

The search continues ;)

Well thats it for tonight.
No dogbones or cups were damaged, the spur and pinion gears are ok to. Didnt have time to open the gearbox yet (it was dirty and needs a wash before I open it), but I tightened the screws for the cups and spun the thing for a while and the only noise was from the stainless steel dual disk brakes so I guess the gearbox (and reverse) is ok (there was no binding) but will check in a day or two just to be sure.

So I will get new bevel gears, and maybe do the 4 bevel gear differential from HPI while I am at it?
