Holy HELL! I was coming down a hill she flipped over and ended up rolling down the hill "RUNNING" and came to a stop in the lake up-side down.

Of course as soon as it hit the water it stopped. I ripped the air filter off and turned it upside down. Took the reciever cover off and removed the batteries.
Just so happened my Father-inlaw had some WD-40 so I sprayed it in the carb..... TONS of it... and turned it over.....

I need the RCNT GODS to tell me what else to do....

Update.... I turned the Maxx on its side... and water is dripping out of the tranny....... HELP!
 
keep flushing the engine with WD-40, remove the glo plug also and do more flushing,

remove your servos and take them apart and allow them to dry for a few days, same for your receiver.

id go ahead and pull the tranny apart also to make sure there isnt any water in there, make sure no water got in the fuel tank also.
 
Take everything apart, clean and lube.....The electronics will be questionable but the rest of the truck should be fine.
 
Yep what he said, lol. If it were me id pull the mill take the head off and tear it down clean it and let it dry. Open up the trany and let it dry, and thats about it. Are your electronics fried?

Tear everything critical apart. Take differentials off, take off tranny, take of reciever, servos, battery pack, engine. Open it up and let it all dry out.
There is a little known trick in the world of electronics of soaking water damaged phones in high purity isopropyl alcohol. 95% or higher but it MUST be denatured with methanol. Anything else can ruin plastics. I have never tried it, but heard good things about it. Flushing everything with distilled water is another trick. Honestly I've had a fair amount of water contact with electronics and have never had a problem. You might be ok. Good luck. Just make sure you let everything dry longer than you think it should have to. Take a hair dryer to stuff to help it out.
 
Thanks Guys! I have been tearing this thing down all night now. Actually none of the servos show any signs of having water in them.... I have them open just in case though.. Tore the engine down and nothing but WD-40 in there, so I think the engine will be fine.

The tranny was SOAKED! I couldn't believe how much water was in there.


Thanks for all of the advice, I really appreciate it. I now will have the challenge of putting this thing back together. Anyone close to 43147, Pickerington, Ohio (Go Bucks!)

how would he know if his electronics are fried?

only way they could be fried is if he tests them to early.

and your reply kinda makes him want to test them out.

Open the receiver case and spray it thoroughly with Radio Shack Tuner cleaner. WD will work in a pinch. The moisture needs to be carried away from the electronic components as soon as possible before corosion starts. Spray it and hit it with an air gun several times. If you try to power it up to test it before doing this, you run the risk of shorting it out through the water that's in it.
I once put one of mine in a lake, and everything survived
 
Thanks again fella's! The servo's look great. I am not testing anything for weeks though... Gotta order some new parts anyway, So I figure why risk it.

I do have a question about the diff's. I was not going to open them up, but when I would spin the rear.... it was real stiff. I opened it and I swear the grease is so thick and sticky that it could be used for glue.

So my question is.... What can I do or soak these (the gears and casing) in to get the sticky grease off with????

mine took a swim, everything survived. took the RX apart and soaked it in alcohol to drive out the water, then let it dry.

if you got water in the tires, you can drill small holes in the center of the TREAD normaly 4 or so will do the trick, then drive slowly at first (once you get the truck back together), then speed up a little at a time and the water will sling out the small holes.

Thanks for the video.... Of course I do have questions. using the stock diffs on my T-Maxx..... am I suppose to put diff oil in there or just Mobile 1 Synthetic Grease?

As much of a Pain In The Arse this is,,, I really enjoy wrenching on this thing. By the time it is all said and done, I should have a pretty good understanding of how this thing works.
