When I broke my revo in I didnt pop any glow plugs. After break in I replaced the plug with a os lc3 and it popped quarter tank in. Probably because i didnt tune. I replaced it with another lc3 a couple days later and tuned it and I used it for about 1 hour and put it away after cleaning. Today I went out and it blew 2 plugs. I readjusted the idle a tad just in case. put in another lc3 and ran it for 25 min and it was fine so i cleaned it and put it away for another day. What could it be? Hard running? maxing out throttle? When I clean I put Hobbico after run oil in throttle body a cycle it and re add oil. I dont put any in the glow plug area because the bottle only saids through the throttle.

all opinions and help welcomed:ponder2:

Blade,

I wish I could help ya out...Do you have any idea what your temps are getting to during these runs? I am running the identical plug(LC3), I changed to it after tank 2 of break in, and have had 3-4 bashing sessions of about 5 or 6 tanks each since...I have been running it pretty hard and have yet to have a problem with the plug...I am however running it a little on the rich side...since I would rather "fine" tune it when the air temps get a bit warmer...It was around 35 degrees here today...Anyway, I hope somebody can help you figure this out....

when i had it on factory settings it blew out, so I leaned it a little and it shifts quicker ran 2 tanks that day and 1 today onthat plug and it went. temp here today around 40 plus the win. On one of the runs the temp came back at 310 then it stayed between 170 and 230 depending on how I drove it. I have the dura traxx meter.

i blew a couple of plugs one time and then found out it was the after run oil i was usein. The plug got a oily film on it and caused my problems

I use HOBBICO after run oil

From looking at the plugs, it makes me think your running too rich. Normally, a dark end is from excessive oil build up. Especially in the short time your getting out of them. They should be all shiny still with only a tank or two run through it.

Although, running rich doesn't normally blow the coil, it just gets it all coated with crap so it doesn't heat up and stay hot very well. Are the coils inside the plugs blown apart? I can't tell.

If the coil is deformed or broken, your lean. If the coil is compressed up into the hole it's in, your running too high of nitro for your shims and causing too much compression. If the end of the plug is black and wet, your running rich and it will foul out. If the coil is white and the end of the plug is clean, you are dead nuts on the money if your a racer and could probably run a bit richer if your a basher.

Way off Base...I will hold off on giving anymore stupid input :jester: I was reading the manual and the higher nitro would require a "richer" setting...
Sorry Blade

It looks like definitely two out of those three plugs are burnt out (coils broke). I am by no means any expert, but I'm guessing the mixture is too lean (or there is an air leak).

too lean. the plug is supposed to have a 'tan' color to it to tell that its tuned good.

Olds has the right idea.....you may also try switching plugs....I find the Lc3 s a bit finicky.....I use the McCoy 59s and the suggestion of a member here ....and I love them.......now you will still need to get the tune right...but these plugs seem more robust and less finicky..

My 2 cents worth

Hi guys I feel a little retarded here, I beleive this has contributed to my problems.. I was adjusting the low speed needle when I was looking for the Idle screw. I beleive I richened it to much on 1 ocasion and leaned it to much on another. Before I knew this was the low speed needle I had replaced the glow plug and readjusted the lsn ran it on tuesday 3 tanks and no problem. knock on wood

:opps: Yesterday I picked up a copy of car action mag and there was a section there on tuning and I realized I never came close to the idle screw i was way off. I was confusing the LSN for IDLE screw. Tomorrow I will adjust the LSN how the magazine suggest. Pinch fuel line close to the carb and engine should run for only 1-2 seconds. Then I will evaluate the IDLE if needed its still on factory settings. I'm a big dummy. I think I am going to switch to the mcoy 59 plugs on my next order.

My guess is you running waaay to lean, i never got that sort of color even after 10 tanks ...
