Hi guys, I'm having trouble with the receiver or the dynamite race guard fail safe. With out the fail safe the truck works fine but when I put it on the dam thing sometime does strange things, like when I turn off the transmitter most of the time it puts the brakes on but 3 times it whent wide open!! good thing I was holding on to it ,other times it will just stop without the brakes being applyed so I turn the receiver off then back on and it will work fine. And then somethimes it works perfect ! Most of the time when this was going on I was uesing AA batts. but just the other day I put a hump pack in and still doing strang poop with that being fully charged. Now comes the part where I get screwed when I got the fail safe I spliced the wire and soldered a half inch more to it so It would fit under the receiver where the 3rd servo would go, then I could put the lid on . I'm sure the solder job is good . Is it in the fail safe or is the receiver going bad and the fail safe is picking this up? I don't know anyone with a fail safe or a receiver that I could swap with to see which one is bad or do I spend another $35 on a fail safe just to find out that is not the problem. Thanks for your time in helping me out with this dam problem!!

From what you are saying, the problem only arises with the Failsafe in the system. As you probably know, the brakes should go on when you turn the transmitter Off, but it should not go full throttle. I have a Venom failsafe and it has not given me any problems, actually it is working very good. I get out of range and the brakes slam on. I'd almost have to say that there is a problem with the failsafe or it is not compatable with your electronics. I would check into the possibility of sending it back to be checked out and run without in the meantime (if, as you say, it runs ok without it).

Thanks Larry, could you post a link to the venom fail safe, I'm not finding much info on these fail safes all you guys are running. So far I've done alot of what you guys say to do with great luck and would like to find out more about the venom. I do appreciate all the info on this board . I still have more questions than answers for all of you.

Did you install the failsafe or did you buy the ride with it?

Couple things to check...
1-Are you absolutely sure you dont have any contact between wires that you spliced and soldered?
2-Did you read the directions that came with the failsafe? Did you follow them? I know this sounds dumb but sometimes you have to go back and RTFM.

I have seen the venom failsafe but never used one. I use the Ofna Mini and it has a little button on it. When you first connect it you have to make sure your receiver and onboard electronics are on but your engine is NOT. Pull the trigger or press your control forward to give full throttle and push the little button. Then apply full brakes and push the button again. What this does is teaches the failsafe what the limits are and which direction is which should send signals if you loose signal.

I found on mine I had very similar problems until I went through the setup procedure.

***Did you get the proper failsafe?
Dynamite makes 2 different units.
1- Dedicated for the Airtronics M-8 only and 1- for all other radios.
They both look identical. I purchased the wrong one at my LHS. Until we read the fine print on the package we couldn't figure out why it didn't work properly. It was showing the same symptoms as the the ones you are experiencing now.

Thanks Larry for the info. When you put your venom in did you have to modify anything or did it fit in there ok with the lid on. I would like to have the lid on and in place, I'm kind of anal that way. I BELIEVE I have the correct one FastEddy . Dam I had another question but I can't remember what it was," o "well I'll post it later.

Didn't have to modify anything. The venom is real small and you can mount it about anywhere within reach of the wiring. Simple setup, plug in and turn on the transmitter and receiver then go to full brake and press the set button on the Failsafe. It has a light than blinks when the Failsafe is active (in failsafe mode). They are about $30 to $35.

i have an ofna mini and no problem with it...just like robriguez but i didn't have to set the full throttle tho, just the full break, press button and its set
