Take the clutch shoes completely off set the cluctch bell on and see if it goes all the way down if so the shoes are too wide.

If you have the old part and that fit right compare it to the new one and make sure there the same.

It goes all the way down with out the shim on (big washer thing) but doesn't if it is on.

Since you got it apart i would put new shoes and springs be done with it.

Compare any of your new parts to the old ones to make sure there right they do screw up packaging sometimes.

Is this why the clutch bell is so far back from the spur gear.:D

are you sure it is the clutch shoes. When i take the bearing out of the clutch bell its fine. I am using my old bearings the new 16 tooth vented clutch bell didnt come with any.:\

Whick bearings do i need.????

Where ever you bought the clutch bell from you should have bought the bearings and shoes and springs what the sense of mixing old and new parts. It sounds like the bearing may not be going all the way in or its the wrong one.Did you buy a stock replacement bell.If you bought that car used it might not be the stock clutch on there. If in doubt buy the complete assy. Then you can quit beating your head against the wall.:D

You guys are confusing the hell out of this member.

You need to remove any and all shims that are in between the inside bearing and the flywheel nut.

Your clutch shoes are fine, your bearings should be fine.
Those Cb's run 5x10 bearings. The only reason you would need to replace them is if the ones you had were bad.

Make sure the bearing on the inside of the clutch bell is fully seated into the clutch bell.
If it is fully seated and is not flush with the inside of the clutch bell then that is going to cause problems with seating the clutch bell down completely.

I am going to buy the new bearing as i only have my old barings for the other clutch bell. You say that i need to remove all the shims(washers)?Take all the clutch shoues out.. Confused????????

Is this car a used one you bought or have you had it since new. I suggest if you have the assy drawings or go online and get it make sure all the parts are correct then assemble it according to the print.

Make sure the flywheel nut is tightned all the way down I had the same issue on my XL it backed out for some reason and pushed the clutch and cb forward a 1mm.

Thanks everyone

I am going to have a good look tonight my new parts are comming too.

Ill have a look at the clutch net too..

Thanks
