I know I posted this in the Intro section, but thought it appropriate to post it here also, since this is where I will be spending most of my forum time.

I am Donovan, nice to meet you all

I am not new to R/C , but new to 1/8 scale. Over the years I have taken up and withdrawn from the hobby of R/C. I have had mostly electric
1/10th scale buggies, including ones from Team Losi, Kyosho. All of my R/C time was spent bashing, no racing as of yet. I am sure that will change soon though.

As for as nitro, I have a 1/10 scale HPI Porsche .15 car, that has been sitting for about 3 years.

I now have the bug again and am about to throw down 2g's on a Mugen MBX5 ProSpec with all the accessories that come with nitro powered cars (Since the last time I stopped this hobby, I sold all my stuff)

I am buying everything I need from A Main Hobbies, radio, servos, engine, pipe, header, buggy, etc, etc, etc...

I am going with the Novarossi PX5 motor with the Novarossi 9886 pipe and long manifold. As far as the radio, I am going with the JR XS3 Pro with the Z8800T & Z8800S servos. Also getting the Mugen Pro starter box, and some other misc. stuff needed.

Any comments or suggestions on my new adventure is greatly appreciated. I am so looking forward to building this thing. For me that is half the fun, I love spending time on projects in my garage.

As for me, well I am 32 and an Accountant by day and a Flight Instructor in training at night. I fly the Cessna 172 and am currently working on my instrument rating.

I am married and have a 10 mth old baby.

Anyways, I just wanted to say hi to everybody and I have much to learn about 1/8 scale nitro buggies

hey cessna, I thought you "flew" a plane not drive one?

Very nice choice with the Mbx5 to get back into the hobby with. Do you plan on racing or just bashing?

Welcome to the board.

Welcome to 1/8 scale. I don't own a Mugen, but I do have a 1/8 scale bug, and I love it. You will find all your answers here, I promise you that. Congrats on the flying instructor deal. My best friend is an instructor and in fact just got his instrument rating and certification on twin engine planes. Good luck!

Not sure.

Right now I am just looking forward to having a project to build. I am really getting excited about building this thing.

In regards to that, I have read that the parts are not together in the proper bags and you have to search for them, what is that all about. That is rather dumb considering tha quality of this kit otherwise.

Is it best to just open all the bags into 1 huge bin and search for what you need?

Once I get it together, it will be just about breaking in the engine and learning how to drive it on an open dirt field and a little bashing.

Yes flying is the most rewarding and challenging thing I have done. I also have about 10 hrs. of aerobatic time in a Grob 115C.

My goal is to get my instructor rating and teach part time on the side.

Tell your friend congrats.
