Header broke.

Well i just snaped a nother frigin traxxas header. It figuars I take my truck out for 5 minutes and hit my jump once and snap. It didnt snap all the way off so i think I'm going to take it to my friends shop and see if his dad can just weld it for me. That will make it indistructable. Ill tell you guys if it works because a little weld that saves me 17$ is a cheap solution.

You could also try the HPI or Dynamite header instead... mounts with springs instead of bolts. That allows for give. They also aren't as cheaply made. The goofy thing is that they are both cheaper to buy!

Ya olds but I just got back form my 2 lhs and both didnt have one well ultimate hobbies had one but the hole was square. And the bend would have been to extreem to bend. But what dynamite are you talking about.

Both of those are cheaper than stock, the HPI is quite a bit cheaper. Both also use a spring to hold it onto the engine, so it won't be as likely to break as stock.

I think you have to bend them a bit towards the back of the truck to get the pipe to line up really well, but that's not a biggy.

Ok but do you know if the exaust header port is round or is it square? This is what got me and why i didnt buy one pluse it looked like the bend was upside down at the hobby shop maby its just me. I wish that towerhobbies carried tekno wing mounts so i could combine shiping seeing as to how I'm ordering one up tonight but id hate to pay 5$ shiping for a light little header.

Round as far as I know. I've seen both installed on a revo in forums with a 3.3, 2.5R and 18TM... although, the 18TM doesn't really need it since it comes with a good header.

I had also posted this in the thread I linked above. Pics of the headers installed:

Nope, but I've seen it installed at other forums on the 2.5. Considering the header for both the 2.5R revo and 3.3 revo are the same, I don't see why it won't work.

Found pics! None of them are mine. They were in threads on another forum. I should save them to my PC in case they remove them...

I think he bent it back a bit.

And the HPI header:

The guy that used the HPI header said he had to grind a bit of the flange off so it didn't interfere with the starter housing. If you look closely on the last pic, you can see that near the engine there's a flat spot on the bottom of the header flange.

Also, it doesn't look as though he bent his at all, which requires a longer exhaust mount wire. If you tweak the header a bit towards the back, I'm sure you could use the stock wire. The pipe would be at a bit of an angle, but I don't think that would hurt much.

Thats why I wouldnt get the dynamite header is 17 bucks same as the os at my local hobby shop. I would have bought one by now but I have a brand new one in with my new mill, I'm really anal about my stuff and would like to have a fresh header on my os.18tm when i break it in. I should just throw the os18 on there and be done with the 2.5 but latley its been being a good lil mill and id hate to throw it out. That gets me thinking i got 5 gal on this 2.5 and been on the same plug for 3 huh .

My LHS doesn't carry the OS header and tower has the OS 18TM header listed at $39.99. My LHS was selling the 2.5R headers for $23 a piece... I broke 3, then got the 18TM engine with the OS header (when they were $220). I used the 18TM header on my 2.5 when I swapped in the 2.5 for cooler weather. Worked fine.

Maby ill just throw it on there. Or if it blows up at the races on friday ill just throw the hole new os on there lol. But theres anothere delima should i put the os.18 on my 3.3 race set up and put the 3.3 on the 2.5 chassi or just put the os on the 2.5 like i intended on doing befor i got my 3.3. I'm just concerned that the .18 wont have the grunt the 3.3 has when i put it on.
