There should be a screw on the bottom side to take out on the cover then it slide out to the side. There may or may not be two screws also on the bottom side of the gear housing, then lift that little tab and slide it towards the front. Ours is always tight and I use a little flat screw driver to pry them out

Correct ^+1 It's slid in on two dovetails. Two screws from underneath the chassis need to be removed. Pull up on the pull/pull tab & slide forward.

THANKS! yea i got that screw out underneath the stupid shaft guard and that sucker is in there and will not come out so i can't slide the motor forward. i thought and just breaking it and buying a new one

Put some dry lube on it when you put it back together, will make it a little easier next time

i was pissed off at that stupid guard for real! after that came out the motor came out easy peasy!
It looks a little flimsy on that one, can see it being a pain with how tight they are in there. The one in our big rock is more like a little block under the shaft and a little more solid to pry on. But glad you got it out!

Welcome to one of the dumbest designs in RC. Horizon is proud of that design. Why they didn't just make that module bolt in is beyond me. They could have just added a couple more screws and it would have been fine, instead of those stupid rails. Dirt gets in there and you gotta damn near destroy the thing to get it apart.
