i bought it about 2 weeks ago. i broke it in according to the directions/dvd. now the dang thing keeps cutting out when i give it gas. i have an infrared thermometer and i've tuned it so it reaches about 250 degrees fahrenheit on the top end. it starts fine and idles fine. anything more than about 1/4 throttle will kill it tho, sometimes less. i have changed the glow plug a few times, trying to exhaust any possible solution. i saw another similar thread on here that noone was continuing so i am making a new one. any ideas?

A temp gun it nice too make sure your not cooking the engine but it's not the baest tuning tool, sight sound and the pinch test are golden IMO! It sounds like your lean on the LSN.

Mine was doin the same thing on my 3.3 N4-Tec and the LSn was my issue. Now she runs like a champ

i was able to get it to run normally after making it ridiculously rich. after running it for a bit i leaned it back to running for speed. i am starting to see that the temp gun isnt the best tool around, but since i am new to this, its all i have.

i am having another issue and question to boot. when i tune for temp, do i use the temp it reaches at its peak or idle temp?

i also just got a ram charger body for it which was a terrible idea since its an suv and the motor isnt exposed. i have a feeling i'm going to be cutting huge holes in it to get it to quit overheating

temp guns are very accurate tools, when you know where your engine likes to run, some engine like to run really hot, and some like to run really cold.

A mixture of "blue smoke" and a good temp are the best combo you can use.

with that said you get the temp @ the glow plug after a few hot laps. meaning get the car up to standard operating temp and run a few laps, of what ever, and check the temp.....

and yes all nitro powered rids should have an air inlet and a outlet for the hot air to get out easily....
