Today, while me and a friend of mine were out bashing at the house, he and I experienced something that just blew us both away!!!! He has a Revo that just got broke in. He works off shore, so it's been three weeks since he's had a chance to play with it. Today was the first day. To make a long story short, here is what happened. He came up off of my curb on the street into my yard, and this wasn't anything hard. He came up to the curb, stopped, and eased up on the curb, and once he got going, then hit WOT. He flipped in the grass, and before he could get off the throttle, the left drivers side tire literally ripped into pieces! In other words, he was upside down, still WOT, and before he could get off the throttle, there was rubber tire flinging in the air!!!! It gets better, in the process, right after his tire starting shredding to crap, the A arm both upper and lower on that one tire, broke in two!!! Anyone ever experienced anything like this??? This was a trip for some newbies like us! The tire shrank to about an inch maybe an inch and a half while it was spinning in WOT, then went to crap! Funny nonetheless!! About half his tire is missing now! It literally slung itself off the tire! LMAO now thinking about it! This a common thing?

Yep. Relatively common on higher speed rigs with no load. As soon as the tire tears like that, it throws it so out of balance that it shakes the truck to pieces.

Happens pretty frequently for jato guys... when they are just driving in a straight line under load! Then again, that's what foam tires are made for. ;)

Watch a slow motion video of a powered tire spinning freely at full throttle--they compress in at the sides and expand outward on the tread side. Kinda like a tire on a TA Dragster. Enough centrifugal force and even a dragster tire will blow apart.

Ok, thanks for the input. How about the A arm?? It snapping in half, is it something that's normal considering the circumstances? First the tire came apart, then the A arm just popped, and broke in two both on top and bottom. I guess this is the cause of loosing it's balance after the tire came apart???

That is a crap load of stress on that little arm. Either the rotational imbalance did it or the tire carcass slapped into it before completely shredding. Lotta power in that mill!

Yeah, that makes sense! Just beat anything we've ever saw! If a 3.3 does that, I can't imagine what a big block would do!!! Thomas, thanks for a good show today! I had a blast!!!

Yup as Olds said....it happens. Also as he said.....I have a Jato 3.3. I popped bead off a back tire and figured I'd just finish the tank out. I was doing high speed parking lot runs and as I was doing a turn the inside tire came off the ground....same thing...tire shredded and I was lucky to just end up with a shock cap popped off from the shaking. There was a bit of a crowd of people watching and that made it even better.

My mini revo blew 2 tires off at the same time once, and what was really strange it was a front and a rear tire on opposite sides, kind of awkward to tell ya the truth :shrug:

Ok, this is about my Losi Micro-T. i was ripping it around my conservatory before with a Li-Po battery and a brushless motor installed, took a sharp left around the box in the middle, and the tire literally flung off the rim, smacked me in the arm and it felt like a slap, also the lower suspension arm got twisted slightly, and the car just spun out. that was also a confusing moment =P
Matt.

ya i've seen alot of vids of the savage flux ripping tires to pieces it not all that uncommon!!
