you know how certain people one real engines take parts from other engines and make one good one. do any of you do that to get more performance out of your rc engines? if you do like what kind if things have you done? I'm not talking about buying a bigger air filter and a good tuned pipe. I'm talking about putting pistons, cranks, carborators, and cooling heads (i can never remeber what its called)

About the only thing I did like that was an OS 10E carb on a Traxxas .15... Other than that, nothin major.

Never had the need to. All the engines are still running strong. The only thing I have done other than the 10E carb exchange for a HPI 15FE is a head swap. Nothin else. I have attempted to mod an engoine but I destroyed the Sleeve. Never again unless its on an engine on it last legs.

I've only heard of porting the sleeve, or changing the carb from, say, metal to composite plastic to keep the fuel from boiling at the carb.

Yeah, I've swapped carbs on stuff, but that's about it.
I modified an OS 10E to fit a HPI NitroStar 15.
I modified an OS 20E to fit an Omega 21 Comp.

I tried porting an OS 15 CV-R(X), but that went very badly... which is why I had the 10E carb available from above.

I've tried pretty much everything but porting sleeves on the OS RG......I've polished the porting but haven't succesfully modded the (sleeve) timing....but the crank mods have gone well...even the half assed turbo sling in one improved performance.....what types of modification are you thinking of trying??? your question is usually not w/o a reason.....

i dont know. something like making the block of a .15 where the piston and sleeve go bigg enough to fit a .18 or something like that make a sleeper engine. i was just thinking of things. this happen alot

I think sirio tried that with the traxxas 2.5 back when the t-maxx first came out. They sold a piston/sleeve/con-rod and I believe a crank that improved "claimed hp" to go from 1.3 to 1.7. The change was making a thinner sleeve, reformed piston and longer throw on the crank to change the CI of the engine from .15 to a .18. It was an expensive change, but it wasn't as expensive as the straight up sirio 18 that they sold.

I don't know if you want to get into modding these like that......that's more 1:1 type of mods.....I've seen the Sirio modded 2.5 and for the money it cost, it's a turd......still use crappy trx bearings and case......just be aware when you start modding your engine you basically are taking the risk of creating a cool paperweight.....
