Hardened steel Transmission Gears....Are they worth it? Just seen a set on e-bay for about $85 bucks.

It depends on how big of an engine you are putting in it. I have a good friend with the .18OS Max in his and went with the FOC with the steel gears and he will never look back at plastic again. He shelled his tranny out then went steel. BTW the diff lockers are hell on the tranny too which is how he shelled it out to begin with. If you are staying stock I would not worry about it too much but if building it up....might be worth a look. I would also check out a few other places.....I think he got his for less than that off of A-Main.

I feel your pain.....I just broke my primary shaft and all his buddys that hook up together...

Worth it for a basher. Especially if you also get the two speed larger spurs in steel. After getting an aluminum trans, all RRP steel gears that were available with a RRP steel FOC. When I did it, the two speed spurs weren't available, but they are now.

After installing the RRP steel stuff, I only burned up a couple bearings on the main input shaft, two sets of 2 speed plastic spurs and 2 2-speed shafts. The RRP gears looked like new after 6 gallons of big block abuse. I used a light coat of automotive grease on them when I installed them.
