I have a Rossi .21 in my T-Maxx. I've spend a decent amount of time tunning it, and it runs great. It's right in the "safe" zone...I could go a little leaner to get a little more power, but I don't mind trading off some power for engine longevity.

After I run a tank of fuel through the truck, the motor never wants to start up unless I let it sit for several minutes to cool down. Is that normal? The thing runds great, but as soon as I run it out of gas and fill it back up again....it never wants to start.

Any tips or advice?

Thanks

Are you trying to start it the same way? Priming it and starting it...or simply trying to run it up after adding more fuel?

Note, a warmed up engine should be easier to start. Perhaps your glo ignitor is weak or the glo-plug is going bad.

Interesting... I had this same problem with my brothers RB. Probably just a tuning issue. I would go back to factory settings and go from there again, and that will rule out that it is/isnt tuning. Might be the plug also.

You might be a bit lean, but many engines don't like to restart HOT. Warm is one thing, but at 250F, the fuel boils when it hits the carb.

Don't let it run empty. Fill it while running. I've run quite a few times for many tanks back to back without issue with many different engines. Whenever I run empty, I have to let it cool a bit so the carb will allow fuel into it without boiling up.

Once the fuel is gone and the engine dies, the heat from the engine makes it's way to the carb. When you have fuel running through it, the carb stays a bit cooler. As soon as the fuel flow stops, so does the cooling the fuel is doing.

Yes....I prime it. The problem is that even though I'm running the thing super rich.....it still gets hot enough that after it runs out of fuel, when you prime it...you can hear the fuel boiling out of the carb since it's so hot.

It won't start until the motor has sat for about 10min. Why would it be running that hot, when it's so rich? If I go any richer......it just bogs down and dies.

Yep, I checked and everything is set up right. The mesh is perfect.

What about the low speed jet? If it was to lean, would that make it run hot if I'm running around at part-throttle a bunch?

when tring to restart open the throttle some with the reciever while starting, thats how i start mine when they flameout or I accidently run the tank dry
