So, I had bought a 2 speed shaft off a forum member only to realize that the aftershock doesn't have a LST2 two speed shaft, but rather a FOC two speed shaft... well, mine was bent and with the +3 pinions I'm running, it was pretty noticeable. So, in an effort to not bend one again, I had ordered the hard ano'd plate that helps protect the spurs and exhaust stinger... and the weekend was coming... and none of my LHS's had a FOC shaft.

So, I busted out the drill and destroyed a couple old (pretty well fried) bearings to use as spacers.

I used the inner race of the old bearings to act as a spacer for the bearing on the end of the shaft. Two bearing races was a perfect fit. I drilled a new hole in the shaft for the main drive gear, it's a hair off, but seemed to work out pretty well. I was afraid it was going to be more difficult... but getting the hole straight without a drill press was the only difficult part. I had to ream it out a hair larger than the pin so I could get the gear on it properly.

You may also notice the cut out behind the gear on the bottom. That's due to the gear flip mod I did a long time ago. Adds the equivalent to +1 I think to the ratio.

The new center skid installed:

I probably wouldn't have done this, but I didn't realize I had the wrong shaft until my truck was in pieces... and considering how many screws it takes to get the trans out, I wasn't about to put it back together with a bent shaft. Also, in trying to straighten the very tip, the threads cracked, so I was boned regardless what I did. Knowing the weekend was beginning the next day... I had to have it running! Although... I get a phone call from my basher buddy saying he's sick Saturday! BASTARD!!! Oh well, at least the shaft is straight and it works (had a few tanks test run on Saturday morning before the call).

The spurs spin smooth as silk now. A sound I haven't heard in quite some time.

Nice mod job Olds!! Not to get off topic, is the FOC pretty easy on the LST?

I couldn't say... I didn't have to do one. I can't imagine it's too hard. Basically you'd end up with a trans that looks like mine inside... very simple.

I'm not sure if with the FOC if you are still left with hi/low range either though...

I wouldn't mind losing the H/L either, that was my next question. I don't think I'd have a use for it, besides it'll mean fewer gears inside the tranny, I'm all for that.
