I just got my Associated GT 8.0, (see Hooby Shop Hooray) and although I am so happy that I got such great service, I can't help but be a tad dissapointed with the car.
It is an awesome piece of gear, but it is really just a Thunder Tiger thats made in USA. With the exception of the fuel tank that goes from bottom feed to top feed in a rollover the rest is exactly the same as the MTA 4 S50. I even had someone comment that the cooling head is small enough to come off a 4.6.
Like I said its a great looking beast and I'm sure I'll love it but I was hoping they would have tried a bit harder to make it a little different.
Be aware I also recieved no parts book or manual of any kind. I dont know if it was a oversight or they just dont issue them.
Anyway off my soapbox, time to start running it in.......:constipat

keep us posted. The 8.0 is now the big kid on the block.Go find a Cen Gen and a Savage XL for some drags and post the video :)

8.0 I want one!

unfortunately, AE didn't re-design the truck much then re-vamp it with cosmetics, a big engine and a better radio.

I spent a lot on an old MGT with an XTM 247 pro and OS pipe. it hauled.Regardless, its a new RC and hop ups for it should start coming around.

Easy peezy Captain. I have a CEN 7.7. I might let my little girl drive that one in the drag.
No videos but in case she beats me.

they didn't change much on the new mgt becuase, if it works dont fix it, and it works, the mgt is probably the best built truck out there. period.

My issue is that when I bought the MGT 8 the S50 Thunder Tiger was cheaper, but EXACTLY the same. Funnily enough they're not cheaper now.
Gotta say I LOVE the MGT. It is one hell of a ride. I can't praise it enough. (I even went out and bought an MTA4 .28 just cause I like the design so much)
