ok i have a nitro evader st and last time i ran it i used it in my back yard(dont worry its big) but it had catostrophic consoquences. i basicly craked the fly weel ruined the breaks screwed up my engine a etc. i broght it to my local rc shop and i payed 80$ worth of damages (i also screwed my weels up) and this is all because i ran it on grass it this a bad thing to do no i only run it on cement or street but its a off road stadium car wtf.. plz its grass bad or was it something else
 
Dirt is probably what your truck was desgined for. Unless it's real short cut grass, you will find that running on grass also creates higher temps on your mill.
 
well what i think is that the grass put strain on the fly wheel which started to just grind down and not catch the otha gear so i mean do u run ur cars on grass?
 
Unless it's **really** short, grass is second only to sand in the amount of excess drag it creates. If you listen, you can hear it bog down as you pass onto grass from a flatter surface. For electrics, this usually leads to overheated motors and shortened run times, and even sometimes can burn out an ESC. For a nitro, same deal, it will cause more stress on drive train components and overheat the engine if done for an extended time. Additionally grass can wrap around the drive train and cause even more drag.

Imagine a hill climb the length of which would take up an entire tank. Even that is better than grass, but you would have to make special considerations, such as gearing WAY down and running really rich to compensate for overheating.

A good rule of thumb is sure, venture out into the wild, but not for very long, and make more frequent checks on your ride for overheating and crud in the moving parts.

ok ty and also is it bad to full throtle caz I'm afarid caz the engine makes a rewally loud sound and i dont want to break it.(the sound is not bad its just loud and i fel like ill break sometin)
 
As long as you have good smoke and temps aren't over 280 degrees(depends on your engine size/brand), there is nothing wrong with WOT for a few seconds. That's half the fun part of nitro engines!

your talking about the spur gear i think? ...the flywheel is attached to the engine. the spur gear is the big gear that the little one on the engine drives ...is this what your talking about

if its tall grass its probibly making your clutch slip & heat up...burning the teeth off the spur gear
 
As long as the grass doesn't go past say 1/2 your wheels your prolly ok to run in it. If its any deeper it will put alot of strain on all the moving parts. Better to run in dirt or what I like to do is take mine out to the local base ball field and play in the sand. Sometimes they dump a huge mound of dirt behind the batters area.... AWESOME for jumping!

(gets old quick but better then just running around in front of the house.)
 
is sandbad from the ase ball feild? i did that onceand my car was fin dirty i got scared caz i thought som stuff got cought in the engine or sometin.
 
Umm... these things are made for dirt... as long as you keep your air filter clean and keep the truck dry, you should be fine.

Like others have said, grass isn't really good for a stadium truck. They are designed more for a groomed track than typical park/lawn running. It's more for the tires to "roll" over and also creates constant drag on the bottom of the chassis.

MT's are more condusive to lawn just because of ground clearance. Big block MT's take grass on easier than small block MT's because of the larger amount of low end torque a big block creates. There's the same amount of drag on the drive train, but a BB can deal with it easier.

Sand isn't good for much of anything for long periods of time. After driving in sand, you would want to blow the truck out really good with compressed air. Sand has a tendency to get in all the wrong places... kind of like water.
 
uhoh, grass is the only thing I have driven my truck on so far, and its not short at all it is about as tall as the wheels, I have the kyosho madforce :ponder2:
 
Now how tall is this grass you're running this truck on? You got a picture of your yard? The only problem I could see, is the truck is to low or the grass to tall. So that when you make a pass, the spur picks up grass blades. If you don't plan to race it, I would raise the truck as much as possible. I've ran my trucks on sand and grass with zero issues. Well there was that time the motor started smoking the grass blades collected on it lol Now basicaly my trucks are 4WD and raised, so I'm sure that helps a lot. That is why I thinking raising your Jato will help some?

Anyways, don't be afraid to rev that motor if it's tuned right. These motors make most of their power at very high RPMS. Thus making them pretty loud when you get on it.
