I have a question, i want to upgrade to graphite parts for my losi xxxnt but a friend told me that they were lighter but more brittle, thus easier to break. Is this true? i thought they were stronger.

I have the XXXNT-Drake.
It come with all the available graphite parts.

Your friend gave you sound advice. If you are racing and need the extra advantage Hell Ya, If your bashing stick with what you have.

I bought the graphite arms when I broke my stock ones and these new ones are like rocks I've beat the hell out of them and there still going strong

If you want strength go aluminum but graphite is pretty sound. This guy at my track runs all graphite parts on his XXX-NT and its good and light but not durable. He hit a jump to much on the front and broke 1 A-Arm and the other one is close...Hes gonna replace both with more graphite! Hes rich i think...

The difference is in the flex. Graphite is lighter and has very little flex to it. This will improve your handling and response. The drawback is that if you have an impact instead of flexing it will brake. Yes they are strong but wont flex and bounce back to the extent that plastic will.

It you look at RPM plastic parts they flex like no tomorrow. You can twist an RPM part and it will bounce back to its original shape, great for bashing. the drawback is that with flex you will loose a certain amount of handling.

Choose whats right for you.

Except when you hit a small snowbank and the break.:lick:

Seriously, aluminum is ONLY for show(In critical places)...

I've bent more aluminum parts on the 4-tec than I can count... Rear shock tower bent the first time I hit a curb, the graphite replacement ran strong for over a year. My front knuckle's gave out twice(Within the first week), the right rear bearing carrier SNAPPED in half, the rear gear-box stripped out(In three places, and I was NOT trying to overtighten anything). Needless to say, I will NEVER buy anything from PowerLine again. It's expensive, and, in my experience, not as durable as it's made out to be.

Aluminum is good for places that wont be subject to much stress, or immediate hits(IE, curbs, poles, parked cars).

I've since been converted into an anti-aluminum Rc'er. Graphite all the way.

Graphite (Like eddy said) will not flex, and it just looks cool.

I used the PowerLine crap...

I've yet to try RD's aluminum, but I know first hand that powerline is crap for general bashing.
