DL- It seems to me your maybe half right about the tests. I found it fairly easy to get silver so far, but gold seems just as hard or maybe a tad harder than GT3, just my opinion though.

Quite a few of the "race cars" don't really seem to be all that great right out of the gate. For instance... in GT3 I had a real hard time with the Pagani's.. untill I took some time to really test it's tunability. After succoming to the fact that I had to change my driving style to what that particular car could do I found it to be an extremely fun car to drive. Sometimes you just gotta do EVERYTHING different to get the outcome you're lookin for.

- I never finished GT3 either. Two times I started that game from scratch. Got to a bout 75 or 76% and just forgot about it. dunno why, weird.

Whoa, three 24-hr races is pretty hard-core. Hopefully you win the first time b/c that would definitely be one that you don't want to try 4 or 5 times.

Well, instead of starting the races I went to the Driving Missions. Those are pretty cool. I didn't know that they give you credits, so that will definitely help my bank out. I ran through the first 10 w/ no problems and they gave me a 04' DeLorean. Can we say "Back to the Future". It said it was an 04'. I didn't even know they still made them! LOL.

Anyway I think that getting the liscenses first and then doing the driving missions, seems to be the way to go. For the most part, they use the same tracks in the liscense test, that they use for the driving missions. So it makes it pretty easy.

I know that some will probably say this is cheating, but I call it dirty driving or offensive driving. On some of the driving missions, it didn't seem like I could beat the other car, no matter how good I drove. So what I did was just build up my speed and then ram them from behind when they were on a corner. That would slam them off the track or against the guard rail. Sure, I would get a 5 sec penalty, but it didn't matter b/c you still end up beating them by a few seconds. LOL.

I must say this game, blows GT3 out of the water. I've already got tons of hours logged in on her and still only <2% of the game completed. I see this is going to be an all year game for me......

Yeah, I call it my signature move when I'm racing against my friends. I like to bump in the corners and throw you off your driving line while at the same time it positions me on it. But at the same time, they do stuff that I don't like either. It's all fun & war. LOL.

Ok guys you know I love my video games, and I have been waiting for this one forever. I have a lot of problems with this game and that makes me very unhappy. I have been loyal to the series since 1. GT4 feels slapped together, and barley different from version 3. 650 cars, sure there is, like 300, 50hp cars that no one ever heard of or ever will even buy in the game. They omitted everything even remotely sweet about the US and European markets. I love Nissan, and I own one, but like 45+ Skylines? WTF PolyPhony! Whadda joke. Car selection = crap for what was hyped. Ok now let's talk about the game glitch, or the programming ERROR. The screen shakes, or it makes the graphics look like they are going threw blinds or shutters. If you have the game you have seen this, and a lot. It even happens at 1080i BOOO! How can you let a game go to market this messed up? I have nevere seen a glitch that big in the production version of any game.

I am no hater of GT, like I said I have owned every one and am such a oyal fan of the series, I think this is why I am so upset. I won't even get into the no online thing. I will still play the game and get some enjoyment from it, but it is not racing holy grail that it was promised to be. Oh well guess I still have Forza to look forward to.

such a minor draw back to a great game... there are many "hidden" cars you dont see in the shops and its a japanese game....soooo yeah.
and humboldt if you havent raced in a "too fast" kinda car yet, ITS VERY DIFFERENT from gt3. braking and turning and everything else i had to learn all over. no more slamming on the brakes into the turn and accelerating out. you actaully have to modulate it now

anyways dl you dirty cheater i know what mision you are talking about too number 10 right? took me half a day to beat that one and i did it legitly. booo on you left the missions after 10 (pain in the ass) and started racing

How in the hell do I transfer credits over from GT3..... I'm starting to get irritated. I guess I shoulda been paying attention when it was telling me how to do it, but I was to excited to get into the game..... help!!!!

vb.... I GOT IT!!!!!

Go to Home, then to Status..... look at the bottom of the screen.....
:hammer:

humboldt- I kind of agree with you. Although I'm not surprised by the car count. but I am EXTREMELY disappointed in the twitchiness. That's just completely unexcusable. I don't care if they had to limit the car count to 67, they shoulda got that shaking under control. BTW, how does it look in 1080i? I have 1080i on my t.v. but it won't recognize my ps2. I can't figure out how to use it.

Yeah, I agree w/ you HB that these do seem to be the flaws that I don't like:
---screen twitch
---car distribution (20+ corvettes, 20+ skylines, etc..)
---lack on online capabilities

I don't experience the twitch until the race is over and the menu asks if I want to retry or exit. When those buttons flash, it makes the screen twitch until I push the button and make a selection. Other than that, I haven't expereinced any twitching during actual gameplay. But at the same time I haven't done any races. I've only been doing my liscences and now doing the driving missions.

When do you guys experience the twitch?
---All the time
---Only in actual races
---Only if you run in HD

When I converted it over w/ my HDAdvance, it only registered as being 2Gigs. You would think that a game that in-depth and w/ that much variety would at least be 4Gigs. The majority of games now are 4Gig due to their coding and other features. Being that GT4 is only 2Gig instead of 4Gig, you would think that they did alot of program shaving or did "possibly throw it together at the last minute".

Overall, I think the game layout is good and I would still give it a "B" rating. I've always been a fan of the GT series and this is just one of those games that I have to buy.

I can't believe you guys didn't expect the car distribution to be the way it is. I always figured that was like a given.

DL- I get the twitching during actual gameplay (racing), also through the gameplay intos. It's not so bad that it affects my ability to play but it just looks poopy. Can't imagine why after so long it still has problems like that. I call that a MAJOR bug. The "GT spaz" is really the only thing I'm dissapointed with. Simulation has come a long way even since GT3. Maybe you guys don't notice...

I can't believe how much my '04 Honda Civic Type-R drives like my '02 Honda Civic Si.

I gotta say it again.... If you are not using the Driving Force Pro steering wheel from Logitech you are totally missing out on a huge part of the sim. you will actually have to hand over hand the wheel to get around hairpins... it's freakin awesome!

Ok, I hate to say it, but I'm stuck on one of the Driving Missions. There are 4 slipstream battles. I have beaten 3 out of the 4 and can't get the 4th one no matter what I try.

I have already beaten #21,21, & 24. I just need to beat this last one to complete the slipstream battles. If you go to driving missions, it is #23. There are 5 other racers with you and everyone is driving a Skyline w/ all the exact same specs. So nobody can overpower anyone else. It's all about slipstreaming or drafting.

Anyway, I've tried it about 10 times and just can't get. You and 4 other cars are clumped together, while the lead car is 12 sec ahead of everyone. You are supposed to catch up and beat the lead car. The closest I can get to is w/in 2sec.

Can someone else give it a try and let me know what kind of driving strategy you used to beat it?

Peace.....

What about the fact that you can cut through chicans and s curves without time penalty? Real driving sim? How about using cars to cut corners faster? What AI? And the only thing I can tell that is better about this game is what you described, an update to the physics engine. So many problems with this game that should have been fixed, the car selection was the least of my dissapointments. This game is a solid 8 in my book.

You have to set 1080i in the game options. It only does 1080i for the races and switches to normal for all the menus, boo!

My Madcatz MC2 with force feedback is like that, just depends if you put steer assist on, or wich mode you chose (amature, profession, or simulation I think are the choices). Each one makes it a little more realistic. My Madcatz MC2 fits all my systems and doesn't have the need for the pedal mod like the Logitech does all that at a fraction of the price.

I know.

when I hook up the ps2 to the 1080i jacks in my t.v. I have to switch to that component set via a menu. but when I do my t.v. won't recognize it. I'll have to drag out my t.v. manual and see what it says. right now the ps2 video goes through my receiver, my receiver is hooked through my tv. but at the 480i/480p component set. If I try to hook up the receiver at the 1080i set it won't work either.

also- I think you're a bit harsh about the game, but that's your opinion and that cool. I'm just surprised by how negative you are about it. I think it's a much more realistic play than gt3 was. I think the A.I. is outstanding compared to gt3. If you take the outside lane through a hairpin the computer doesn't cut you off coming out of it, it holds it's line. If you race a particular driver harder then you get the same thing when you get by him. Not to say anything about the way you play but I have always played the GT series with the mindset of how I would race in real life. If a person plays with this mindstate I really feel they will appreciate the advances. I'm just a freakin Geek about his game though. I pretty much try to pretend that it's all real.
