Well, got the part in I needed today, so got the truck put back together and tried to run it for the first time in 6months or so.

A) I fooled with the carb a little, put it back to the factory settings, got it running decently. The throttle tried to act up, wanted to take off without me trying, but I adjusted the controller, fixed that.

My problem is.... it just doesn't seem like its running right. And it won't shift up. As far as the shifting is concerned, is this an engine tuning issue, or strictly trans/gearset tuning ?

B) 4wd no worky no more. Suggestions? actually made it slightly funner, but got stuck a couple times where it wouldnt usually.

C) I'm not sure if its running hot, I need a temp gun, but after running for a few min, it'll just shutoff. I have to reprime the carb, then pull 10000000 times to get it going again.

Any suggestions or ideas for any of this would be awesome. It felt great to play with the truck again, hope to get it completely straightened out one of these days!

That sounds like symptoms of a hot engine. After sitting for that long, I'd seal the engine before running it. The tranny won't shift unless the engine is tuned. As for the 4wd not working, follow the driveline out of the tranny until you find the problem. If the outdrive spins on the tranny, see if the driveshaft spins. If the drive shaft spins, see if it's spinning the diff input. If it spins, check the diff's outdrives, ect... Look for missing grub screws and hex pins first.

'Preciate it Matt. It seems that you and Rolex are pretty much the go-to guys around these parts huh? Ya'll know your stuff, preciate the help once again.

From what I've read here, the ideal outside temp to play around is at least 60*. It was only about 45* or so today, so its no point in me really trying to tune it in until it warms up outside, right......?

Edit: Figured out what was wrong with the 4x4.... Bear with me as I don't know many technical names for these parts. The pin that goes through the end of the axle, after the axle goes through the rear block.... apparently it was supposed to lock into the wheel when I remounted it. on the back of the wheel is as nut with a groove in it, perfect for the pin. I'm thinking the axles were spinning the whole time, but just spinning inside the wheel.... Sound plausible, make any sense?

Your theory is probably spot on. There's many members with much, much more knowledge than myself. I just have a lot of free time at the moment. Might as well spend it helping folks out.:) 45 is about as cold as you want to run in. And that's only if the engine is broken in all of the way(gallon or so of fuel through it). As long as the engine is running right and the temps are holding at least between 200-220, you should be just fine.
