Woo hoo! I just got promoted at my new job! I been there 7 weeks and I'm already movin up... not only 1 position but 3! Man, could I get any luckier eh? Now I actually have some importance there, and responsibility. Started training today actually. Should be interesting...

Does that mean you went from mop boy to working the front line? :D

Just kidding. Congratulations.

what is it that you do lessen? and what was your promotion?

oh and congrats on what ever it was. its allways good to move up on the food chain..

Well, if he was the floor mopper, and was elevated 3 positions, that means he skipped toilets, then skipped sinks, and went straight to mirrors.
If you were bumped all the way up to mirrors, that 'reflects' well on your attitude and work ethic.
Congrats to you.

actually toilets and sinks are one department... I went straight to baseboards.. where the real talent is needed :) but seriously. I work at a gas cylinder distribution center. Now called Linde Gas... used to be called AGA before they were bought. I started as a truck washer/maintenance person/mechanics bitch. I skipped cylinder maintanance and the propane dock. I'm currently training in acetylene cylinder rehab. Basically, I inspect acetylene cylinders to make sure they are safe to be filled. I get tow motor training as well which is a great opportunity in industry. I'm just gonna keep on with the blue collar work ethic and hopefully keep movin up. I know the Fillers and the guys that work in the acetylene plant make pretty darn good money so I got some long term goals too.

What happened to the guy that had the job before you?
Did he get blown up?
HE-HE
Grats man!
Just think more RC poop you can buy.

Thats cool, I have been at my job for a year still making 5.50/hour and havnt seen a raise or anything I am also traning to be crew leader. So that is cool at you have been there for 6 months and get promoted

Congrats man!!! Always good to hear people moving on up to the DEEE-lux apt in da sky-y-y.

Well I've been at my current job 9 years and while I started out lowest man on the totem pole i have managed to work my way up to head high poobah of the exhaulted muckety-mucks in charge of everything and nothing at the same time. The pay is a bit better but the hours/stress/responsibility/aggrevation/and overall chaos that rules my day eats away the joy of the extra cash. Most days I dream about going back to being the newbie who can come and go, punch their time card and get the hell out of the office at a decent hour and live life.

So my point in all that, if you like what you do, if your still learning and the job is still exciting, theres no better feeling than to know that your work is being appreciated and recognized. If you dont like what your doing AND who you are doing it for, do the opposite of me and get out while you can. Run as fast as you can and dont let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

DougC you sound like u need a new job. What do you do for $5.50 a hr?? Babysit??? Here in Mn even MCdonalds starts at like $8.

Congrats on the promotion though Lessen!! Let us know what new toys you plan to purchase!!!

Congrats!

My Grandfather was a world renowned physicist for Linde Chemical back in the day (world war 2 era).

Interesting company.

The Buffalo division is now called Praxair

Eddy- one of the guys in that department pinched off the end of his finger (ouch)... he's gonna be out for a while obviously. I think they were short anyways but with that happening they needed somebody in there.

DougC- I got this job through a temp service (cuz I know somebody there). It's a temp-to-hire thing. Start out as a temp working for the temp company and if they like you a lot they'll hire you on full time for them... oh and it took 6 weeks... not months. If you're just a simple blue collar guy (in othe words college isn't your thing) it's a good way to find a good company to work for

Thanks eveybody, right now I'm just concerned with finishing my twin Outlaw Maxx. Just about everything is ordered cept my diffs. Just gotta figure out a couple issues and get it runnin. Unfortunately, I don't think it'll be done by the ECB but I'll see about Hampton Roads. I got about $3000 in it so the big raise is quite helpful. I havn't decided if I'm gonna get a buggy or an on-road next though. Defintely Nitro and definately in kit form. I like the building part.

If I could build all day long I would even care if I started one up for more than an hour a month. The joy to me is properly putting everything together and making it as solid as can be. I do run my RCs but the joy is in building new kits.

Make sure you count your fingers each evening before punching out.

well I am only 17 I am still waiting to get out of school and go to college. but for now I work at buger king to pay for my rc cars.

I give you props for having a job Doug. Stick with it. It's only temporary.

Lesson, Congrats.

oh heck yeah doug... that's cool. My first job was at Bob Evans. Cleaning tables n stuff.. along with toilets, sinks, and mirrors. After I got my GED I tried the college thing... yeah that lasted all of 3 weeks. But we all gotta start somewhere right?..?..
