So I haven't had much time for the RC funds lately, because I'm spending everything on the 1:1 Jeep. Looking back on how much I have already spent on her made me kinda wondering if I need to just stop mods, but then I see something like I saw this past weekend.

We had a group of roughly 9 guys in Jeeps get together and take a trip out to one of our favorite off road parks in Sicily Island, La. We were out riding all day Saturday and partying Friday and Saturday nights. While waiting for one of the guys to check his ice chest, I jumped out to check my hood mounted go-pro camera, and saw some of the best flex from my rig I've seen yet and made me feel that all the cash was worthwhile. In comparison to a full out comp rig, it ain't much, but being the daily driver, I'm impressed. Gotta go through all my vids and pics, but I should be posting more of the weekend as it progresses.

Between these and the pics Teri posted on facebook, it looks like a blast and some perfect weather!

It actually started pouring down rain yesterday evening just as we were finishing up and winds around 25-30 mph. Everyone was scrambling to put their doors and tops on.

I really do..... But can't. Over 5k since late November. Plans till I'm "comfortable" are another $2500.

Sweet! Alpine i miss my rubicon soooo much! This too was one of my favorite things to do on the weekends with a group of my buddies here in ga. We used to do a good bit of night time trailing also which is nice when you have plenty of daylighters across the front! I bet there in Louisiana you have tons of places to go wheeling. The only thing i dont miss is the cleanup afterwards.

Surprisingly there is not too many places here that we can legally go. That pic was taken at the Catahoula Recreation Offroad park in N. La. Its privately owned, and designed for serious off roaders.

I still got plans to go with smaller rims, (from 17's to 15's) and a little bigger rubber (from 32's to 35's) for around $1500. But to add a 35in spare, i will have replace the rear bumper that has a tirecarrier that will put all the weight onto the bumper instead of the rear gate. I have some new springs ordered that will give me and extra inch front and back for around $250.

With all this rain I'm slowly making my yard into my own offroad trail. My truck has a 3inch lift with some 33s and bottoms out in one of the holes. lol How do them tires do in the mud?

As much as i try to avoid the stuff, they arent too bad. Actually had to go into some mud yesterday morning before work when i was contacted by a friend, that his friend had sank his brand new $55k 2012 wrangler rubicon in some mud, and had over a foot and a half of water inside of it. It took everything my poor winch had in it even with a snatch block. Had to break the suction, as it had been sitting in that hole for almost 24 hours. I had to pull it unassisted because it would not start. Would have been easy if it could have spun the tires while i was pulling. The motor was completly locked up and it had to be towed to the dealership.

I don't know whether to laugh or to cry about those pics and the story, Alpine.

Omg! I dont believe the warranty covers that! And insurance wont either if they know he was off roading. Good luck to him getting it repaired.

Alpine do they have any trails that a stock 4x4 truck could ride on without tearing it apart?

Not really at Sicily, but check out Louisianaoffroad.com. There is a ride this Sunday at a place that is pretty decent. Trails, a few little obstacles, but no big rocks or anything like we do at Sicily.
