wiht alot of traffic its considered the flow of traffic and you can't be penalized for keeping speed so the monkey behind you dosent rear end you. usually its for those guys that "dip" along the highway.

Either you weren't looking for them, or didn't know what they were for. Next time you go that way, you'll see them. They're about a foot wide, clearly seen by the Bear in the air. Solid, across all 3 lanes. Specifically measured for the calibration of the air unit.

k, i will have to check it out, i know the little thin strips the put down to measure the traffic, but i dont think i have seen any a foot wide, maybe i was going to fast to see em. lol.

As I recall, coming at you, the stripes look thin. Straight down, they were about a foot wide. If you never saw them around Albany, then there are markers on the side of the road that are only seen from the air.
They don't do it during hours of heavy traffic because they're more concerned with keeping it moving, only when it's thin and some people use excessive speed.
When you've been bagged by the bear in the air, it's radio'd to a Trooper who then pulls you over for the ticket.
I'm not sure what the distance between the lines is, I'd guess about 1/4 mile.
When you see them, you can check it with the mile markers on the guard rail, marked in 1/10ths.

yea most of the time when I'm going to albany or anything its on the weekends, going to the mall and crap. ya know. so yea heavy traffic. i will keep my eye out.
