Someone at the bash in buffalo was talking about a place where you could input exactly what you're looking for in terms of screws, bolts, nuts, etc. Apparently, you can specify even the type of head.

I'm pretty sick of paying $4 for a little bag of screws. I'd love to round up every type of fastener my R/Cs use and have a several spares of each on hand. "R/C screws" are always more expesive that "plain old screws".

Can anyone point me to the site I'm talking about or know of a similar one? I tried google forever and couldn't find crap.

Thanks,
Rob

RobH I think they are talking about http://www.mcmaster.com I think if you do a search in the tmaxx forum (assuming you have a maxx) a guy lists all the screws that you need. my buddy and I are looking into doin this and it would only cost about 25 bucks a person and you would have more than enough screws to go around you min order per bag is 100 screws. Hope that helped you out a bit.

Rob here is the link...I think this one covers most of what you need. https://www.rcnitrotalk.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1542&highlight=tmaxx+screw+kits

Yup, that was me... McMaster.com is the place... Very, very cool & superfast shipping on the east coast. Basically 2nd day delivery... Christian almost poop himself when saw what they offered... Your EVERYTHING hardware store......

Hey Rob,

I just bought screws from this guy off of flea Bay. I haven't gotten them yet but I bought the tmaxx set and the losi set. I emailed him and asked if he would combine shipping he said he would ship both for the same shipping price.

I got the and the

Losi kit

Tmaxx Kit

Tmaxx

The total shipped was 37.40 not bad for over 600 screws and cases.

Your could always try our sponsor: UFSS

I've ordered off of Bill two or three times now, excellent guy to deal with, great communication, and fast delivery.

Rob, I don't know if you'd be willing to check out your local industrial hardware suppliers. I shop the commercial places that will sell retail. Hi-Strength Bolt and Tacoma Screw are two of them in the Seattle area. (Which does you a lot of good, but you get the idea. I used to be a purchaser so I'm never at a loss for resources.) It beats the hell out of Lowe's or Home Depot, they carry a buttload of hardware in stock, and you don't have to filter through trays of stuff that stockboys and customers have thrown into disarray.

But yeah, for mailorder McMaster has absolutely everything. And their thick yellow catalog doubles as a wheel chock for a Boeing 737 stretch, if you can get them to send you one. WW Grainger is another good alternative. They're wholesale only but if you provide a company affiliation you're in.

Rob I got a set for the HB pro from www.rcscrewz.com $24.00 it comes with just about every screw for the car. They seem to hold up well and they make a kit for just about every car!

I can vouch that this screw kit did look nice, It was part of the give away's at the East Coast Bash. (RobH saw it too).

Besides it probably wouldnt be a bad Idea to support a rcnitrotalk sponser. ( that sounded like ass kissin didnt it LOL )

Well it did look nice LOL

Sly

Yes. I can also vouch for the screw kit from UFSS. I also received my kit from the giveaway at the bash. After I got home from the bash I tore my maxx completely apart and reassembled it. I have replaced every phillips head screw with an allen head screw from my kit.

Two more kits will be given away at the west coast bash as well.

Yea when my ticket was pulled i really wanted to pick one of those screw sets ....but my body was in such bad shape... I had no choice but to pick the Atomik body. As soon as i set it up I will take pics.

Thanks again for the new toy....

SLy

Yea I think your body took the most abuse at the bash msly. ImBroken's did too but his body seemed like it was 3 times as thick as the stock bodies.

Thanks for the http://www.mcmaster.com link. their store is awsome. you could get lost in there. LOL I looked up this one bolt. at 5 cents each, their screws are cheap, but what would I do with the 98 extra screws that would come in the $5 bag? :hehe:

wdavidhicks, thanks for the GRAINGER info. if i ever need a lot of screws I know where I go locally.

I accually started this quest by looking at the sponsor at the bottom of RCNT. I'm sure they have a great product, but I don't own a maxx or a losi or any of the other screw sets they sell.

1meathead hit the nail right on the head. www.rcscrewz.com seems to have a screw set of for EVERYTHING, including my lightning pro! I'd gladly pay the $25 or so for piece of mind know if I lost anything, I'd have an extra.

thanks for all the great info guys.

I just set up an order using the mcmaster people and I used Retreads list of of screws from the company.

The McMasters part numbers:

92125A126 Flat Head 6mm
92125A128 Flat Head 8mm
92125A130 Flat Head 10mm
92125A132 Flat Head 12mm
92125A134 Flat Head 16mm
92095A181 Button Head 8mm
92095A182 Button Head 10mm
92095A183 Button Head 12mm
92095A184 Button Head 16MM
93625A100 Nylon Insert Locknut 3mm

The total for 100 of each of the 10 screws a tmax uses ( Rob I know ya don't have one) comes out to a little over $50 bucks If you split that with a friend that comes out to $25 or so bucks for a decent Tmaxx screw kit.

RobH,

I'm not trying to change your mind one way or another, however I do want to make it clear to you and anyone else that is reading this.

UFSS mainly operates just like mcmaster.com, however UFSS has made it easy for people in the R/C Hobby. Buy pre-making kits for a few R/C's and then placing them in a nice container unlike other companies that place them in one big bag, or seperate bags if your lucky.

The point I'm trying to make is that if you know what screws you need (see owners manual) then send Bill at UFSS an email explaining where you see his banner and what screws you need. I can just about bet you he'll be more then happy to start making kits for ya, or anyone else that is thinking about getting a set.

Just a lil FYI

msly,

In regards to your statement, with UFSS you get 25 of each of tht 10 screws a t-maxx uses, for only $19.00 and placed in a nice container, not just a bag. Even with fewier screws you will still have screws left over. :-D

Yea if you look at it that way not only is it easier to use UFSS, its cheaper.

I actually just got to Imbrokens house, he is not here yet so I'm rifeling through all his stuff. The screws do really look awesome.

I am also checking out his 21 conversion...Nice....

I actually kept one of UFSS screw kits for the maxx for myself, and will be using it for the .21 conversion. The only thing I REALLY need before I start putting it all together is new diffs, once those are done and bought I'll start putting it all together, I can't wait!

ImBroken - what conversion did you use?
