good engines for truggys

Picco .21 and an 086 pipe will be much stronger than you realize. Most race quality .21 mills are stronger than your .26 is. I had a 110 dollar 3 port Picco .21 that smoked Axial .28's from a dead stop and left it on top end. Displacemnt is not always king. I only run .21's in my truggy.

what do u think about a go .26 engine are they any good. seen 1 on ebay for 65 pound/$119

They are good budget mills with solid customer support. Give it a shot.

Picco are very good engines, but the top engines right now are Novarossi, Dynamite Platinum, and Team Orion. I also would suggest getting the XTM 24.7 if you can find one thats not on backorder.

Maybe in your opinion but from my experience the power and RPM from the picco .28 is better than that of the novarossis' and the LRP .30 kicks everythings ass!!!... and as the guys driving a 1/8 anyway why would he want to downgrade the engine!! doesn't make sense!

Longer fuel run is the point of sizing down, if your racing youll understand why a .21 is better than a .28 because of the fuel run. Having to take extra pit stops will hurt you in the race. I run in the 1/8 Truggy class and not one person runs a .28 in any of their truggies and I also downgraded my XTM .28 Engine to a Dynamite .21 for the exact reason, and dont say that the XTM motor isnt as good because I havent lost 1 drag race with that motor, and yes I have raced against .28 piccos, lrps and novarossis. There is also a reason most truggies come stock with .21s. Adam Drake of Team Losi only run .21 Novarossi engines. doesn't makes sense as to why the .28 would be a better choice.

I'm goin to a 21 cuz i aint got the money to get another 25 plus engine. I've got a hyper28 n sts 30 engine i cud repair them but it would cost the same as a new engine n wen ma picco 26 part comes il fix it n put it back in my truck. by the way deviousduck I've seen a ishima rave buggy with a novarossi 21 thrash a petrol/gas MCD FGs n bajas.

if u race with engines higher than 21 your classed as outlaw n thats why most people race with 21 engines. where i race buggys n truggys race in the same class n most of them are 21s

comparing a nitro to a petrol rig is like comparing chalk and cheese... one is nitro and one is gas!! whereas I was only talking bout nitro! but there we go irrelevant.... where I race is 8 min sessions and my .30 can run on a tank for that long and it kills everything in its path... when I drive it well!!! (which is rarely..LOL).... We obviously have different needs in an engine!!

I can get 9-11 minutes out of my .21 in my Truggy, and with the Alpha Plus engine...it ain't no slouch ;-)

My retired Ninja .21 gave me 10-12 minutes a tank easily. I once timed a tank to just over 14 minutes. The only .28 sized engine I've seen get close to that is a Ninja .28, which I also happen to have. :D

btw forgot to say that was all timed in my 8T.

We run 15 minute races, so I guess it all depends on how your local tracks handles things, I usually bit 8 minutes in (I'm usually the first to pit) It sucks pitting with everyone else cause there can be a pile up in front of pits, so I try to beat everyone there and avoid that.

my picco 26 will run for about 10-15 mins depends how i drive lol n where i race we do 10 10min races then 2 10min all in nitro vs petrol (thats when my old hyper7 got killed by a MCD lol)

well I've scraped the idea of a new engine....... I'm goin back to a hyper7 again this will be my third lol £150 for the hyper with a picco 21 :D

Track size also plays a huge role in fuel economy. My home track I'm pretty much wide open for at least 60% of the track ;-)

Here is our current layout. @ 43-45 second laptimes for the Pro guys....

Oh yeah and this is a Werks B5 Engine in a Truggy ;-)

Oh it's a nice track for sure ;-) A LOT of blood, sweat, and tears has gone into it in the past year. Only been open 1.5 years now....and this is our second layout change. It's a pretty fast track, and very technical. We have fun though...and most everyone seems to love a good challenge. The track is really easy once you get the hang of it, but at first it stings. hehe

Heres a vid of the A main for 1/8 buggies, I didnt take the video and I have no idea who did, that was the only race I missed this year. They also started halfway through the race too. Yours is more WOT where mine is more corners and rapid acceleration which burns fuel quicker.
