I came up on an offer and am really not sure whether I should get it. It's a Savage 25 that has quote "locked differentials, cracked fuel tank and a broken carb." I emailed the person and havent received a response. Its going for $175 obo. What can cause the carb to break? Thanks for your help

well a carp and two diffs are gonna run you just about the asking price depending on the supplier. But A Savage is pretty tough. if it has a "cracked" carp and is locked up there is probably a lot more wrong with it than what he listed...

wow. I can't spell Carb for crap can I?

If both diffs have been locked for awhile, you can probably add another $60-80 for a new tranny. Somethings gotta give in the drive train...

i would not buy it. i agree with what the others have said ...plus depending how broke the carb is, or how it broke there could have been some metal fragments from it fell into the engine

I paid $200 for a very clean roller savage on this forum over a year ago. CVD's all around, dual brake kit, re-built diffs, full set of stock shocsk, aftermarket shocks installed. It needed an engine, body and electronics. Also, it was completely spotless. Skymaxx was rediculously anal and it was highly appreciated.

$175 for a beat upj, needs $ and lots of wrench time savage sounds kind of steep...

definitely stay away from it. remember, u get what u pay for. deals are cool to come by, but this heap u described is not one of them. as was mentioned above, the replacement parts would run u about 80-90 bucks...not worth it.

I have a customer that locked his savage front and rear - not a good idea. As mentioned in previous post and I can confirm you will be buying either new gears or a new tranny for it. There are good trucks out there I would say keep looking.

Thanks guys. I woke up this morning leaning towards no also. I already have a nice savy but you can never have enough right? haha Thanks for the advice. This really helped me out a lot. Thanks guys
