Glowplug Filament Missing

Was runnin my 2.5 when she just quit. Tried starting and wouldnt catch. I figured it was time for a new plug and got home and sure enough the plug was missing the filament. I plugged the exhaust and pulled the pullcord several times to try and flush out the filament piece(s). Put a new plug in and she fired right up no problems.

Question is - Even though I didnt see the filament fall out should I be alright running it as is?

If it were me I would tear the motor down. Just for piece of mind.

I think your fine. It probably burned up.

I've had that happen before. Usually because it burns up, and the remains end up blown out the exhaust.

If you're new glow plug goes quickly it's because pieces of the old filament are hitting it. If not, then you're probably okay.

At most, just unscrew the cooling head and see if there is anything sitting on top of the cylinder. If not, it's long gone.

Thanx guys. I took the head off and took a peek. There was nothing noticably wrong or damaged so I reassembled and ran 3 tanks with no issue.

Tank #4 and I think she siezed. Just refilled and she started for maybe 3 seconds and died (Somewhat normal for her). Went to restart and I can't move the pullcord at all and the flywheel isnt budging either. Looks like I found a weekend project afterall

I still havent figured how to set that up yet. I have a couple albums created but for whatever reason I cannot load pics into them. It gets frustrating!!

Not gonna bother with pics because I threw the piston away. The bottom part of the piston just discintegrated and ciezed the motor. I opened her up and not only did the clutch fry but the clutchbell and bearings did too. Took the motor apart and the pistonhead was pretty charred. Hard to believe with only about a 1/2 a gallon that the piston would look like that but oh well. Stopped by the LHS and ordered an O.S. The guy there said if you dont follow break in perfect for Traxxas manual that you will more likley than not burn it up quick. Had great smoke all the time and temps were always around 270ish. IDK maybe I screwed up with the break in???

WOW!!!

What a difference!!! Its amazing how much power these smaller OS plants produce. I've had some .21's and .28's which were great but I can't get over the advantages over the stock 2.5. I'm only 1 tank past the 6 breakin tanks and it wants to wheelie all the time. Best thing that ever happened was frying a glowplug!!
