what kind is everyone using? what seems to be the most reliable. I have a duratrax rechargeable on the way. anyone used em before?

I never used the Durratrax, but It should do the job.

As for whats in my pit box, well, there are 2 of them. Keep in mind, one will go in my pocket for starting when I'm away from my pit box and the other gets used MOST of the time.

The Hobbico Hot Shot 2 stays in my pocket. If left on for 10 consecutive minutes, the charge will be done. Takes a long time to charge, but I just recently picked up a field charger for it that runs off of my starter box.

My FAVORITE and absolute MUST HAVE in this department is the Hobbico 1.5 dry cell. Yeah, its big, heavy, and bulky. But it gets the job done like clockwork and lasts a LONG time before having to buy another one. I'm talking months. You can't recharge them, but then again, no need to. When its done, just get another.

Here is the HotShot 2 I use now:

Here is the NEW HotShot 2 that will last a lot longer 'so is claimed':

Now for the setup I use the most:

This is SIMILAR to the clip I use:

And this is the Battery I use:

In that picture is the actual clip I use but I couldnt find it on the site. Its probably out there.

Hope this helps.

Heres another pic of the hobbico with the ignitor attached.

I dont like the twist type ignitors so I found the one I like, cut the connectors off and and crimped on a set of alligator clips from Radio shack.

I'm out running 1 or 2 of my rides almost every weekend, I've had the hobbico battery for 7-8 months now and its still going strong. I keep a cheap D-cell ignitor in my pocket (no recharging) if I flame out or spend too much time on my lid.
