Interesting... so what is a different plug that will work well in place of the OS8? I have always used the OS8, but if more power is to be had with a slightly less agressive tune, I am all about it. Will this plug work in any .21?

Yeah, I was wrong... I am running an OS A5 plug. I am running the stock motor that came with my Swift for now... the SH.21. I am wondering now after reading cmb97's post if the plug may be the cause to my problems... My car is posessed sometimes. It will run either rich or just right temp wise and have perfect power on the 1st tank, then the second tank, it's like someone leaned it way out... runs like 30-40 degrees hotter and the smoke trail dissapears... less power too. It's really starting to get on my nerves... like I have to compinsate the tune when I refill. Do you think the plug has anything to do with this?
Exactly what I say, but why in the world does it change consistantly between one tank to the next? I can tune it rich for the first tank and have it just fine for the second, but what's the relation?Originally posted by niggle
If the smoke trail has gone and the head temperature is up 40 degrees then it probably is running too lean.
If this is the case, wouldn't it be all of the time then? Not just on the second tank?Originally posted by niggle
Check the engine for air leaks, particularly around the carburettor.
I will check those things for sure now that you mention it.Originally posted by niggle
On my SH engine the carb pinch bolt is has a spring washer under the nut and sometimes works loose. Use threadlock and tighten the pinch bolt again.
Check the o-ring seal between the carb and the crankcase.
It's not... I have checked the tank over and it's good. I haven't checked for pressure yet, but I didn't think that would have anything to do with it, maybe it does have something to do with it?Originally posted by niggle
Check that the pressure line to the fuel tank is not gummed up with burnt oil.

You mentioned very valid points and good things to check, just that I didn't think about them becuase the first tank is always different from the rest, so I wasn't really sure what it was. I have since just compinsated and have it running a little rich, the first tank eventually gets good towards the end, then from then on, it is good. Another thing I have noticed... this I don't like... it seems the happiest at real high temps... when I fatten it up to bring the temps back down in the 250 range, I lose some performance... it seems to love being up around 280-290, but that's just too hot if you ask me.
