Anyone have a link showing used glow plugs in different conditions due to carb settings? I got some stalling at idle, and sputtering when going up from mid throttle, but WOT was fine. Carb adjustments didn't help. The glow plug still lights, but it was almost black.
What's the preferred plug of choice for the TRX 2.5?

All i really know is that if it is white and brittle looking than it is too lean, and if it is covered in oil and stuff the you are too rich. Anyone correct me if I am wrong.

It was pretty black. I haven't looked at the one I ran today, but I ran 4 tanks, and the engine ran well. I'll pull the plug and look at it before I start it tomorrow.

Check your plug after the first tank, while its new.
1} Wire and surrounding bottom of plug wet, with like new shiny wire = rich side of optimum power 85%
2} Wire and surrounding bottom of plug starting to dry and wire starting to gray = Very close to optimum power 95%
3} Wire and surrounding bottom of plug dry, wire totally gray but not distorted optimum power 100%
4} Wire and surrounding bottom of plug dry, wire distorted = slightly lean DANGER!

No problem, got it off a couple of other sites.
I've seen the same information on about three sites (one of them was Paris engines) so it should be acurate.

Thanks again, Bill61. I just used that info today to tweek out a 2.5 for a friend. According to my 'ear' for tuning, it was running right. I pulled the plug, and it was at 95%. I'm leaving it there, or he'll be able to outrun me on the straightaway.

What fuel are you running %wise.. all my traxxas engines have done a lot better with 16% oil

Blue Thunder 20%, 16% oil. Other than using Traxxas fuel for break in (their warranty) Blue Thunder is all I ever run in any car engine.
