Glow Plug Malfunction

Yesterday i tried to start up my rusty with the EZ start 2 system and the motor would turn once then stop turning my engine. It seems like there is no combustion in the Cylinder. I pulled the plug out and it was pretty wet, i dried it out and attached my glo igniter (dynamite) and heated up all the wire except for the last ring. Is that normal? Anyway...put her back in and Bam started right up. Ran it that day. Performed after-run procedure and squrted one-second bursts of WD-40 into the glo plug hole, and the carb and I woke up 2day and tried to fire the Rusty up but no response. I did same thing i did yesterday but didn't work. Any solutions? i have no idea what the problem is!

I would check to see that you haven't seized the engine. Take the cooling head off and make sure you get movement of the piston. Another, thing...I'd recommend against using WD-40 as an after run oil...just me, but isn't WD-40 a solvent as well as a lubricant? That might be what your problem is vice the glo plug.

Engines not seized, when i remove glo plug, engine spins fine! But WD-40 has kept my .15 FE in my RS4 working. doesn't screw up that glo plug. I dont know what the problem is. But WD-40 does wonders because it Makes the water Not enter your engine when its in storage.

Okay...I don't use it for that purpose...I use it to clean metallic things and remove rust. If it works for you, great.

So the engine is not seized, and the EZ start doesn't turn the engine over...hmmm. I'd suggest checking to make sure you have good solid batteries in the EZ starter. I would then check to make sure you have good connections on the drive motor for the EZ start. Finally, you might need to remove the engine and check to see if the one way bearing is not slipping. Pull the EZ start stuff off the back of the engine and clean that one way up then re-assemble.

Just places to look for problems.

Are you turning the motor after you put in the WD40? The WD40 will hydrolock the motor, just like flooding will. If you pop the plug out and it turns fine, it sounds like that may be your problem.

And SkyMaxx, I use WD40 as well as Silent does. Because it was recommended for the TRX motor I have. As a matter of fact, I had to sit through that darn T-Maxx movie with my friend. And they used it. I personally agree with you, but the LHS can't get Afterrun oil. Other than that "other brand" I'll stick with the trinity once it comes back off back order.

The last ring is supposed to light on your plug. Toss it!

Have you tried the Carbon Speed plugs for that mill? You might like those a lot! Check them out!

Watch how much WD-40 you put in. When THAT ignites it will burn a lot hotter and faster than nitro. Its like the guy who uses contact cleaner in his mill. BOOM! Just a thought.

Cool...I learn something new everyday. I guess I'll have to read up on the uses for WD-40. I just know it does a great job on tearing down rust on my lawnmower blades and other rusty things. I've also seen it sprayed into carbs on 1:1 cars back when they had carbs. I just didn't think of it as an after-run oil for these engines. Thanks for the info.

Çh®i§tiªñ... ever make a WD-40 blow torch. Works great...just don't hold the flame too long or you get combustion in the hand...can goes boom.

Sky - thats EXACTLY what comes to mind..... Thats why I wont use it. I've seen a hadnful of mills in the past year alone that were 'torched' internally because something other than denatured and oil was used.

Just scares me.......

Um sorry wd-40 is no longer burnable or extreemly flammable .. our service manuals used to advise to try to start 2 stroke snow throwers off it ..but wd-40 even sent us a memo that this will not work anymore as the fromula was changed 3 years ago

yep I've had a few newer techs call me on that one "hey bob I've got this snowthrower wont run i used 2 cans wd-40 wont start manul from 5 years ago says to use this " lol i wouldnt string ya along it isnt as flammable as it once was .. also i use zoom spout oiler its turbine oil figure can't get much better than that

Okay U guys! This is what WD-40 stands for. I bet you wondered onece in your life...WATER DISPLACEMENT ATTEMPT #40. These guys were trying to make a solution that displaces water and this happened to be their 40th attempt. Cool eh? O yeah...dvd advises to use WD-40 as afterrun oil. So o well... You also know whats cool to use wd-40 as? Put some OFF bugspray on the ground-Make a little puddle- and torch it with the WD-40. Makes a cool little blue flame bon-fire thingy. Becareful though. I'm not saying do this...Dont sue...hehe...DO NOT TRY AT HOME. theres the contract! :contract: WD-40 is a miracle...

O and i fixed my problem:yes:..Just had to charge EZ start 6-cell battery pack. damn I'm dumb! LoL...i guess the engine turns just as fast when theres a weak battery as when theres a strong battery. it just doesn't heat the glo plug. Yay...to bad i didnt get to go to the track 2day. theres always next week. LOL!:w00t:

I'm not sure if you fixed the problem or not..or if someone posted this but your one way bearing may be slipping.
