Hey Guys,

I posted in a thread in the large scale forum asking Robmob if after all the work he had put into that 5ive T if he had a problem getting it dirty for the first time. It got me thinking.... any of you guys ever have an issue getting your new kit, or rtr rig dirty the fisrt time? For me... I always hesitate a bit the first time I put the rig down on the track. Once I flip it the first time, I'm usually ok. I was running my first pack through my RC8.2e this weekend. Just kind of running around the driveway... I got a little cocky and hit the throttle full...well I caught an edge and barrel rolled it down the asphalt. I totally shredded the tops of my front shock caps. Now that I have the first scars on it, getting it dirty isn't so hard anymore! LOL

Nah, I'm just the opposite. I can't wait to get a new rig rolling and give it a proper bashing. Even after all the time building the billet pede, first thing I did was christen it right in the snow, and the mud afterwards. I won't say the cleanup is always fun however. :D

I guess I get mezmorized by all the shiney anodized aluminum and carbon fiber. When I complete a kit and step back to take a look, for a second I understand why Rolex won't get the Savage even the slightest bit dirty. Of course after a few laps around the track, I'm over it and having a blast. My track out back is so dusty, and I mean baby powder dusty, clean up is generally a pain in the you know what!

Yeah, I can understand it for sure. The Baja was the worst I've ever owned for clean up. Partly due to the sheer size and amount of things that have to be cleaned, and partly because of the design that traps crud under the motor.

I have no problem messing up a freashly rebiult rig. I enjoy wrenching on them just as much as I like bashing them. The olnly thing I dont like is running out of parts.

I'm not a fan of having to clean a rig, so yeah, I take my time usually getting it messy. I'll run it along time only on pavement and dry packed dirt before it ever see's any sticky dirt or mud, if ever. But theres always those occasions where its gonna happen.

One thing I avoid is mud if at all possible. If the track happens to get watered before my race, I won't take any practice laps and give the track can have a chance to dry out before I am forced to run on it. Once issue of course is the cleaning. The other is adding unneeded weight to the rig.

And your 5ives lid is so clean too, dont wanna mess it up :hehe:

I build 'em to beat on 'em. It gets dusty here so clean up is usually compressed air.

At least Lloyd knows where I'm coming from! :D

I am also with Robmob... if they wet the track down before a heat I will not run until it is dry again. I made the mistake once and I swear I am still chiseling clay from the back half of the truck. I run a very dry and dusty surface so compressed air works most of the time for me too. Dry and dusty though... is really hard on bearings and shock shafts. I feel like I am replacing a bearing every other run sometimes. The dust is so fine, it just works its what in and gums up the works.

The track I race on is packed with adobe clay. It's slick when wet and gets very dusty when dry. It's like powder. Wheel hub bearings need to be cleaned and greased at the end of a day on the track.

I should take stock in bearing companies! The dusty clay around here is eating me out of house and home in what I'm spending on bearing kits! Lol

my wife always teases me, each time i get a new lid, and get it painted, she asks "why do you take so much joy in making it look so good, when your main goal is to destroy it" i told her it's all part of the fun! i'm anal about how my rig looks, after each beating, i tear it down and clean everything! than go out and do it again the next day !

Please, guys. Lets not talk about this issue. :puke:

Little squeamish there rolex?
