I have witnessed some awsome re-pinched engines, they seem to last just as long and have the same performance as a new one.

For $15, the question is, why not?

After doing some research, I decided i'm going with http://www.rayaracing.com/, he seems better than OSrocket although I have no personal experience.

He does more detailed work and can actually repair minor pisten/sleeve scratches and other deformaties. He also repairs head buttons.

Comparing him to OS, he seems to do more detailed work, OS does a 2 stage CNC pinch and Ray does a 3 stage according to their websites.

After looking at pictures on his website, his work seems quite convincing.

I heard OS just started using the CNC method but don't quote me on this, unsure.

Anyways, i'm going to be sending my engine(s) out for some refurbishing, i'll report back with some feedback, I have exchanged emails and he seems to have good communication. Seeing he is only in NY (I'm in CT), it should be a close transaction.

Haven't heard anything bad about Rayracing, but one comment, OSRocket has been doing it for a lot longer I think, and is well equipped.

I suggest you all read the Xtreme RC magazine artical they did on him.

They actually dyno'd an engine, then the same engine re-pinched by him.

The numbers were awsome, and so was the longevity.

Ray does most engines I believe, take a look at his website for a list. He has some before > after pictures on there that show some of his work.

EDIT: Looking at the FAQ, I found this:

Q: I have an OS CVR .12. Do you resize this engine?

A: Yes, we actually get questions like this all the time asking if we pinch a certain engine make/model. We resize ALL manufacturers .12 though .27 car/buggy/truck engines both 1/10th scale and 1/8th scale.

Good info on the FAQ page.

He also does .30 size. Although he did overpinch mine. I just haven't had the time to send it back to him to get it relieved.

I noticed on his order form, you can select the tightness you want the engine pinched.

He reccomends a lighter resize for some pull start engines.

I plan on getting the medium resize which gives me a balance of performance/longevity. I should be okay with that option since i'm using a starterbox. I remember when my engine was new like other high end Nova motors, I had a pain turning it over during break in.

I also specified medium tightness, but his pinch was waaaay tighter than when the engine was new....I am in no way slamming him, I have heard and read many good things about him and that is why I chose him.

its amazing how many people send "out" their sleeves/pistons to be pinched.its relatively easy to do,and I've done it a few times with excellent results,in fact a sleeve/piston can be pinched a few times and il just keep running the eng till i finally fails usually a con rod or the shaft itself/bearings
