since i need a new piston/sleeve for my mgt8.0 i decided to go looking for a upgrade for an engine.....i was looking around and at first was not to convinced on getting something as small as a .28 because it has the .50 in it...but after seeing the .28 in the savy i decided to go looking..

the one that i found that i am almost possitive i'm going to get is the axial .28 spec 1s (grey)..looks really kool and i've heard some good reports on it..

and hell i could buy two for aboout the price of one picco( these are $119 on tower)....but if this one doesn't work out i will be getting a picco later this summer

i'm soo exited to get a new engine lol..untill i think about break in

Well, I hope you have better luck with it than I did mine. Mine was basically a $100 paperweight after about 1 gallon. No power, couldn't tune it, ran hot. Just generally sucked.

I'd get the LRP28S3 if I were you if the picco is a bit too high in price for you.
 
well i could afford the picco if i saved for another month but i got to get racing lol....the first race was today i think and i'm missing it....i've read lots of reviews and most of them seem to be ok...like i said if this doesn't work great i'll pick up a picco...i just don't have $ right now....
 
For racing, go with the LRP Spec 3 or a Picco. These are the best performing engines.

If you want something cheap but a performer, look into an STS D28M and modding it. It's almost the same price as an Axial but way better and will perform better modded.

Yeah... probably not a bad idea.

I have found that the LRP likes a bit of a restrictive pipe. The HPI polished pipe is too open and made both of mine run like poo. I tried a spare HB pipe (I think it was that) last Sunday and it has a large stinger diameter like the HPI pipes. It didn't like that either. I had broke the latest LRP in with a duratrax warhead pipe of all things. A pipe I picked up for a BB revo I had a year or two ago. Oddly enough, the engine ran pretty good with that pipe comparatively.

Not as much snap as the LRP on my aftershock with a Losi HT LST2 pipe though. I just received another Losi HT pipe I bought on ebay late last week for it yesterday. Got it all installed and ready to break stuff next weekend!

Just letting you know. If it's running bad/hot with a muddy 1/3-2/3 throttle movement, it may be your pipe. I have a integy or RD Logics pipe that is too restrictive and that did the same thing as the HPI pipe except I didn't get as much power. A really muddy mid-throttle and higher than I'd like temps (more than 250F).

With the Losi HT pipe, I get wheelies with pretty tall gearing (+3 w/gear flip on aftershock) and it runs 220-245F all day long and the mid-throttle bog is all but eliminated after a bit of very fine tuning for the weather.

Hope your LRP treats you as good as mine seem to be for me.
 
thanks alot for that info olds...very helpfull..it'll be a couple of days befor i get to order this one because it is a lil bit more then the axial and i'm buying a boat lol..(yes r/c)
