I'm looking for a good hard disk cloning program to use with a new SSD drive for my computer. Basically what I want to do is to copy basic OS and boot information and leave the rest of the programs on the "old" OS drive.

When you clone a drive you clone ALL the data. cannot keep programs on the source drive while only moving the OS to another, as far as i know. The programs rely upon the registry and that contains entries to where specific files and options to each program are held. so unless you update all the necessary registry entries for the new locations it wont work.

While you can clone your existing drive to your SSD, you'll find your best bet is to just perform a fresh install on the SSD.

Yeah, I kind of figured that, but I'll be needing to call a lot of tech support to explain that I'm moving my software to a new drive so that I can re-activate my software (thanks MS and Symantec).
