Hey guys gotta a question about gearing?? I'm about to bolt up a .25 engine to my new chassis. I wondering about what kind of gearing I should run. I'm looking for a happy medium. Let's say enough torque on the bottom end to pull a wheelie, and then of course enough speed to at least be able to drag a little bit. I know that I can't have my cake and eat it to, but tell me what you guys think??

Respectfully,
Woody

There are several options for gearing the t maxx. Most of us with big blocks have moved towards 65t spur and a 22t cb. Seems to be a good starting point but it really depends at what rpm you mill starts to produce it's real power.

You NEED to get the spur setup listed above Its for an E-Maxx. The smaller spur will help protect your drive train. Its also recommended to get the E-Maxx RRP slipper setup. Your new Mill will chew up a stock slipper in no time and will cost you big when you have to replace your transmission and diffs. You will also want to look at a FOC.

Hey thanks guys! When me and my buddy ordered the clutch bell, he suggested a 22t. So, that's what I went with. I also got a 3 shoe mugen clutch. So, you say I should go with a 65t spur gear. Speaking of transmission, I have the MIP CVD's and the extended titanium drive shafts, but how long will my transmission last?? I know there is not a definite answer, but just a rough guess?? Gentlemen, I appreciate all of your help. Take care and have a wonderful weekend!

Engine: OS 21 RG-X(P). I run 72/20. My trans lasted about 1/2 gallon. When it broke it was the 2 speed top gear that busted. I broke another one at another half gallon and toasted a diff and XTM cvd. This was with the traxxas FOC. The reverse made the trans to choppy. I took it out after my first week of owning the maxx.

I've since put in a full RRP set of gears with their FOC as well and spur. I rebuilt and reshimmed the diffs to take out excess slop. I've got about a gallon on this setup and no real drivetrain issues. I did just replace diff and axle bearings with boca green seals and repacked and reshimmed my diffs.

I had a full duratrax set of bearings and they only lasted about 1 gallon. All the ones on the axles and outdrives on the diffs shelled.
