Not without possibly damaging them. I mean, you could cut some of the top of the body off, but you'd have to cut off from the bottom of the little knurled part you hold when screwing on the cap. Then use the adjustment threads to screw the cap on. You would also need to find shorter shock shafts or the shafts/pistons/nut will smash the diaphram when they compress. You would also be prone to cause leaks as it would be very tough to get the cut 100% straight.

The diaphrams should work from OFNA's shocks.

cool good to know, ill get the ofna diaphrams as i would hate to wait a month from ue,do u know of any good springs for these shocks?the silver ones i have that came with them are waaaaay stiff, even with the 20wt i just put in there too much

Working with 7” tall tires and longer shocks on a Tmaxx you will have to trade off either some up swing or drop of the suspension arms. Even with custom towers it’s difficult to get the best of both. The chassis and suspension geometry was originally designed for a 5.75 inch tire, they now come with 6.3 inch tires which is just about the limit for good up and down articulation in relation to the chassis.
The biggest issue with taller than stock tires and a longer shock is the setup. When you raise the upper shock mounting location to allow the skid to hit before the shock bottoms out, the result is less suspension drop and the big possibility of binding the wheel shaft against the suspension arms or pulling the bogbone out of and/or binding the pin in the drive cup if using a cvd type wheel shaft during full compression.
Preferably you would want the tire to be able to be raised at least ¼ inch off the ground after the skid is bottomed out, but that produces an extreme angle of the suspension with 7 inch tires and binding in the drive train will almost certainly happen and the arms will then not drop much past horizontal.

If you intend to bash hard I would recommend using a tire diameter better suited for the Tmaxx suspension geometry. The truck will handle better, and you will have fewer issues with setup and breakage.

If you intend to use the tall tires you will need something custom, like an extension plate or full custom made towers.

Here’s a couple of pic’s of a custom tower I made specifically for the Ofna and UE super shocks and standard size Maxx tires (will also work with 7 inch tires).
The mounting locations are much higher than any aftermarket tower you can purchase but, you need to use limiting straps from the tower to the a-arms to prevent too much drop of the suspension arms or the wheel shafts will bind.

I also use a limiter system on the shock shaft between the spring retainer and the bottom of the shock to prevent too much compression/up travel of the arms which will also cause the wheel shafts to bind.

Good luck with the tall tires, there will be a trade off.
If you intend to keep/use the Super shocks I would recommend purchasing the Motherload shock part kit from UE and the Supershock spring pack. Enough springs and shock parts to make even me happy.

Man shook every time I see this rig I find myself comming Back for a second look, great looking RC. .
If you don't mind me asking, what did you use to make the limiting straps, is that a wire?

Years ago I use to compete in archery and made my own bow strings and cables. I made a custom jig and made the limiting straps from Kevlar bow string material with the anchor points served into the string. Those straps would probably toe a small car...

Very nice. I've been looking to find a set for my Max but I can't find any. EBay had a used set but was asking 40 bucks and they looked worn. Maybe I will go to an archery and see if I can come up with something. Thanks for the info.

exelent post snook, and i too am mesmorized whenever i c that rig i forgot what i was gonna say,....the suspension travel on that is amazing,oh ya thanx for the detailed info i am now armed to the teeth with the info i need to tackle my suspension, and i appreciate the time you,and every one else put in to posting on this subjuct, i think i am gunna look for a tire a little bit shorter so i have more adjustyment possibilities sumthin about 6 3/4-6.5 tall i like the badlands but there too small for my look

I use light duty plastic coated cable and electrical eyelets on my 5b. I soldered the eyelets onto the cable ends. Have yet to bust a shock on it and I was pretty hard on it when I drove it.

Just wish I could find some better small eyelets. Any eyelet I found that was stronger was way too large for this use. As it is, I snap an eyelet periodically and then I put a new one on.

The UE "Motherload" shock parts is the best bang for your buck.
But if you want the bladder's in a hurry Ofna #32033 is your number.

The UE spring kit is the ticket, like Snook said.

Verry good I guess I'm goin with the motherload, and I do need the bladders in a hurry and will get the ones that you mentioned nitro, thanx

hey guys i have some shock troubles here, again lol,.........so first question does anybody know how to gain travel from the shock itself? .the issue I'm having at the moment is.........my maxx bottoms out before the skids even come close to the ground,i have the shocks set at the lowest possible setting,..all the way out on the rpm arms and as far away as possible on the towers, they are ue supershocks with the knucklehead towers,on rpm a arms, could it be that the silicone shaft boot is robbing me of a 1/4 inch?...or what about the shaft ends could they be screwed in too far?or can i just cut down the plastic shaft end?.....or all of the above, when i took a cap off and compressed a shock the piston did not reach the top nor did it come close,

What weight shock Oil are you useing

running fresh 20 wt,also looking for a bit shorter tire so i have a bit more adjustment, anyone ever run the hpi terra pin? 32.00 for a whole set mounted on wheels with foams semms like a deal to me
