Just wondering how many gallons of fuel people are getting on there 3.3's.

This is my first nitro ever, and I am starting my fifth gallon. I called Traxxas and they are somewhat quiet on the expected life of the 3.3. The guy that I talked to was impressed that I had gotten 4 gallons and still had the power to pull the front wheels. He said" you must have read the instructions and watched the DVD."

Lets be honest and get a good thread going here. Let us know how much life people are getting on their engines. I'm looking forward to hearing what everyong has to say.
 
To be honest the life of your engine depends entirely on how good care you take of it. I pulled mine out to replace it with a Picco and at the time it had some idling issues but I can fix it with a tweak of the LSN.
 
well, I am picky about the way that my truck is taken care of. I clean the air filter often, and do an after run procedure every time that I run it. I'm waiting on my new 3.3 now.
 
My 3.3 had not much more than a gallon through it before I swapped it. Sometimes a seemingly dead engine just has a bad tune on it :) My brother's buggy engine won't stay running when it's hot and I KNOW it needs a new engine. There is almost no compression at cold, and it only has a gallon through it. Mainly because I was a noob and didn't put oil in the air filter and ran it without a fuel filter through some pretty dusty conditions.
 
Engines are funny... I should really keep better track of how many tanks/gallons run through my engines. I normally do keep an eye on things at first, but it's tough when you have 2 or 3 different vehicles that you run frequently. Especially with engines that just seem to "sip" fuel like a lot of small blocks.

A basher buddy of mine only got a few gallons through his 3.3 before it just wouldn't run right anymore. It was his first. I met him about the time he was half way through gallon #2. He replaced it with a 18TM then began break-in when it was about 40F outside... against advisement. Hopefully it lasts him longer as they aren't around anymore.

I'll be curious to see the lives people are "really" getting out of their 3.3's.
 
Yeah, I hope that people are honest about it. I hope that we don't get people on here saying "I got 17 gallons and still goes 64 MPH with the original 3.3..." These forums are a great learning tool if used properly.

I've got about 3 on my jato motor and it still runs better then the day i bought it
got a tmaxx put about 1/2 gallon throuygh her 3.3 guy said she already had 2.5 gallons on it when i bought it

both still run like champs throwing the wheels up
 
Theres a kid on nitrotuner, that got something like 9 out of his mill. I'm looking at 4 out of my mill, and I'm at 2 right now. I just dont have faith in traxxas mills. I'm going to get a new mill soon and have decided to take my os.18 and use it as my bash mill once my 3.3 takes a crap lol. Id I have had 2 2.5's that only lasted about 3 and one that I sold was on 1.5. Ill just have to see what the outcome is of my 3.3 though. Only time will tell.

I believe it Bob24... Mine still ran great after 4. Started acting up slightly on my 5th. Would not re-start once up to temp, but once running it still had plenty of power. My new 3.3 will be here Thursday. Guess I will be doing another break in this weekend. I will be more particular with the way that I treat this one.


... and to Bryson... I'm not doubting anything that you say, but I will say one thing. I would hate to be tuning one with 9 gallons on it. If he got that much life on a 3.3, he must be running a lot richer than me. I run mine lean enough to get performance, but keep a steady stream of smoke. I actually had it a 330 degrees once. Naturally, I killed it ASAP!!!

I have a Jato 3.3.....I think only about a gallon through it so far.....I have several so keeping track of how much burnt in each is kinda hard as Olds was saying.....the 3.3 has been a lot better engine than the 2.5 in my old Max ever was.
 
I got a N. Stampede with a .15. 2 Gallons and it would not start. It was only 6 months old so i sent it to traxxas and they rebuild the motor. It should last longer this time because i know what i am doing. I was a noob at this when i first bought it
